Countable & Uncountable Nouns

(brojive i nebrojive imenice)

Na primer: a boy – three boys; a pencil – ten pencils; a house – two houses, itd.
Takve imenice onda, logicno, nemaju
mnozinu. Tu spadaju gradivne i apstraktne imenice (misaone).
Evo primera: coffee, tea, bread, butter, milk, meat, juice, salt, sugar, water, air, fire, earth,
money, time, news, information, homework, love, happiness, intelligence...
neke imenice.
Brojive imenice obelezavamo sa C (countable), a nebrojive sa U (uncountable).

Odrednice: A/an, the ; some/any ; much/many ; a lot of

A/an, the

Ove reči se zovu ‘članovi’ (articles). A ili an je tzv. neodredjeni član, a the je tzv. odredjeni član.
A/an
ispred brojive imenice u jednini. Ne moze stajati ispred mnozine, niti ispred nebrojive
imenice! Kad stoji ispred imenice, podrazumeva se da to nije neki odredjen pojam, nego
“jedan”, tj. “neki”. Zato se i zove neodredjeni član.
Npr. a table, a book, a girl, a woman, a baby, a computer...
The
Ova rec potice od reci THIS ili THAT (ovaj/onaj), sto znaci da govori o necem odredjenom.
Moze stajati i ispred brojive imenice ( i u jednini i u mnozini) , kao i ispred nebrojive imenice.
Npr:
The book on the desk is Mary’s. (ispred brojive imenice u jednini)
The books on the desk are Mary’s. (ispred brojive imenice u mnozini)
Please, give me the cheese from the fridge. (ispred nebrojive imenice)
nesto onda postaje nesto odredjeno i tada cemo staviti the. Npr:
I’ve got a cat. The cat is black and white.
There’s a book on the table. The book is about animals.
Some/any

Some
There are some apples in the cupboard. (ima nekoliko jabuka u ormaricu)
I’ve got some money in the bag. (imam nesto novca u torbi)

Any
Any se koristi za upitne i odricne recenice.
Are there any apples in the cupboard?
There aren’t any apples in the cupboard.

Much/many
Obe reci znace ‘mnogo’. Koriste se za odricne recenice.

Much
Much se koristi za nebrojive imenice! Npr:
We haven’t got much time. Hurry up! (nemamo mnogo vremena)

Many
Npr:
There aren’t many children in the park. It’s cold outside. (nema mnogo dece u parku)

How much i how many znace ‘koliko’, s tim sto se how much koristi za nebrojive, a
how many za brojive imenice.
How much butter is there? (koliko ima putera)
How many students are there in your class? (koliko ucenika ima u tvom
odeljenju)

A lot of
Stoji u potvrdnim
recenicama! Npr:
I’ve got a lot of friends. (ispred brojive imenice)
My teacher always gives a lot of homework. (ispred nebrojive imenice)
