D1 Software

• Boot software: The host starts with the boot software.


The boot software is stored in a unerasable area of the Flash
Prom.
After the successful initialization routine and test of the D1
hardware, the user software is started.
Exceptions: User software not present, or
switch D1. S3.3 set to position ON.

• User software: After the successful D1 hardware initialization,


the user software ist started.
The user software is stored in Flash PROMs.
Using Download, the user software can be loaded into
the Flash PROMs via the service interface.

(Connect the service PC to the serial interface D1.
Start the service program and select the Download menu).

The host enters the error in the error memory.

The standby messages indicate the operating status of the host


after the end of the internal tests.

Host 7-segment display, status messages

The messages 1 to 4, 6 and 7 represent status messages of the host.


These are displayed only briefly in the normal case.
If the test was completed successfully, the processor jumps to the
next test. Once all tests are completed successfully, the momentarily
valid standby messages are output.

1 = Checksum test boot software D1 active.


Host is testing the boot prom checksum.

2 = RAM test D1 active.


Host is testing the RAM.

3 = Checksum test user software D1 active.


Host is testing the flash prom checksum.

4 = Watchdog test active.


Host is testing the watchdog timer.

6 = Internal status message


Initializing message

7 = Internal status message


Host is calculating the kV/mA curve

If one of the status messages is displayed permanently, this test could


not be ended successfully. See Host 7-segment display, error codes.

Host 7-segment display, error codes

The messages 1 to 4 and 7 are displayed only briefly in the normal case
and represent only status messages . If these messages are displayed
permanently, the relevant test could not be ended successfully.
The message must therefore be assessed as an error message.

The messages 8 to C, F and P indicate errors of the serial interface to


the service PC.
If these messages are displayed only sporadically and briefly,
no further measures have to be taken.

The following error codes are displayed:

0 = Processor error D1.


Possible trouble: Processor detects internal error.
Possible help: Test +5 V power pack
D1 defective.

1 = Checksum error boot code D1.


Possible trouble: Processor detects checksum error of the boot prom.
Possible help: Test +5 V power pack
D1 defective.

2 = RAM error D1.


Possible trouble: Processor detects checksum error of the flash prom.
Possible help: Test +5 V power pack
D1 defective.
4 = Watchdog error
Possible trouble: Processor detects watchdog error.
Possible help: Jumper X98. 1-2 not plugged in.
D1 defective.

8 = Telegram NAK error, serial port Service PC.


Possible trouble: If the boot prom is active, the serial interface to
the service PC is controlled by the boot software.
The host detects errors during the communication with
the service PC.
Possible help: Sporadic: Interface cable defective.
Faults in the system.

D1 defective.

9 = Telegram overrun error, serial port Service PC.


Possible trouble: If the boot prom is active, the serial interface to
the service PC is controlled by the boot software.

The following switches are provided on the board D1:

Switch D1. S2 SS switch ON:


SS switch is on if LED V85 lights up.
Radiation release is possible.
OFF:
The radiation generation of the
SIREMOBIL Compact is disabled (for service).
However, if radiation is released, the error E5006 will
occur.

DIP switch D1. S3 Default settings: All switches in position OFF

S3.1 Always in OFF position.

S3.2 OFF Normal position.


S3.2 ON Only Download Memoskop possible.

S3.3 OFF Normal position.


S3.3 ON Prevents the user software starting,
boot software is active. Only Download board D1
possible.

KV STOP is automatically selected. The manual KV setting is still possible.

Settings for service PC

The following parameters are grouped in this parameter group:

• Max # of errors to show With a lot of stored error messages, stored in the
error memory (>500 entries)
the transmission from the host to the service pc can
take several minutes.
In order to obtain shorter transmission times
during troubleshooting, you can programme the
number of error messages to be transmitted with this
parameter to between 10 and 1000 error entries.
Always the newest error messages will be transmitted.
Default value: maximum 1000 error entries are

This parameter has no effect on the maximum number

Sequence:

Note: If you have started generator adjustment, you must continue to press the
radiation release switch (hand switch or foot switch) until the display "Stop monitoring"
appears
in the ACTIONS line (about 10 minutes).
If you let go of the radiation release switch too early, you must repeat the Generator
adjustment.
Exception: Short interrupts of the radiation release switch during the warmup phase of
the
single tank (for a shorter time than 30 seconds) are allowed. The Generator adjustment
will continue.

• Observe radiation protection procedures!


• Select Generator adjustment on the service pc.
• Select Update start.
• Set fluoro on with the radiation release switch. (hand switch or foot switch)
• In the line STATUS, warmup will be displayed.
• The tube heats up.
• After about 8 minutes in the line STATUS
learning pushfactor is displayed.
• A maximum of 25 exposures are automatically released.
• Following successful Generator adjustment, Learning done
will be displayed in the line STATUS.
• In the line ACTIONS Stop monitoring is displayed.
• Let go of the radiation release switch and select Update stop.
• Switch off the unit and on again. After about 8 seconds the
Generator adjustment is terminated.

KV offset adjustment

Caution: If KV offset adjustment was started, Generator adjustment


must be also done!
Before Generator adjustment can be started, it is necessary
to start KV offset adjustment!
If any error occurred during KV offset adjustment, switch off
the unit and on again and repeat KV offset adjustment
and generator adjustment.

but the mA values will increase by the factor 1.41.
• Start fluoro.
• Set the dose rate with the mA+ and mA- keys
(Dose rate for zoom format, multiplied with the grid factor).
• Press the >0< key on the SIREMOBIL Compact user console.
On this occasion the automatic adjustment of the TV-Iris will start.
• Wait till the message "done" is displayed in the line "AUTO REGULATION".
On this occasion the parameters will be stored in the RAM of the host..
• The BRIGHTNESS DEVIATION value is displayed in the line "DEVIATION"
and should not be more than +/- 3 .
• Stop fluoro.

Next doserate adjustment (LOW, MID or HIGH):


• Select KV STOP (manual KV) again.
• Move the dose measuring chamber up to the II again.
• Select the next doserate (LOW MID OR HIGH) with the fluoro mode key
on the user console and repeat the settings for this dose rate.
The selected dose rate is displayed in the line "DOSERATE" on the service PC.

Final works:
• After all doserate values are adjusted, click on "Stop Update" on the service PC and
wait till "Cal"
disappears from the right 7-segment display on the SIREMOBIL Compact.
On this occasion the parameters will be stored in the EEProm of the host.
• Close the window "Monitoring (click on "Cancel").
• Center the dose measuring chamber on the I.I. input screen.
• Check the adjusted doserate in automatic mode (KV Stop is off) with
both programmed kV / mA curves (normal and push) and I.I. full format and I.I. zoom
format.
The doserate must be the adjusted doserate multiplied with
the grid factor and chamber factor. Tolerance: +/- 15%.

Camera rotation

Before the camera rotation can be recalibrated, the
MEMOSKOP image reverse functions must be off.
With the right button for camera rotation, the marker rotates clockwise,
the image rotates counter clockwise.
With the left button for camera rotation, the marker rotates counter clockwise,
the image rotates clockwise.
The position Videomed DC to the camera rotation mechanism
must be set correct.

The following calibration functions can be called:

• 1. Init (Disable limits) After the function call, all limits


for the camera rotation are disabled.
The camera rotation searches the
mechanical end positions.

position (the image rotates counter clockwise)

Camera rotation,
Adjustment actual value potentiometer

Switch off the SIREMOBIL Compact..


If the camera is in the 0 degree position (see Fig. 2), the resistance of
the actual value potentiometer must be 5000 Ohms +/- 40Ohms
(measured with a DMM on pin 2 and 3 of the potentiometer).
If necessary, rotate the camera by hand, till the correct resistance is displayed.
Hold the camera rotation by the clamping ring.
Open the clamping screw of the Videomed DC optic.
Place the Videomed DC in the 0 degree position.
Clamp it in place.

Diamentor

The following calibration functions are available:

• Start Diamentor test Call this function to recalibrate the


Diamentor gain.
Before start of the recalibration, the parameter
Diamentor constant (Qt x Kg) must be
programmed correct and the unit must be switched
off and on again. Check the constant first.
The Diamentor constant is displayed in the right-hand
7-segment display on the control panel.
To update the value, you must press the -0- key.
(reset key for fluoroscopy time)
The Diamentor gain can be readjusted at the
potentiometer of the Diamentor electronics board.
The value shown must agree with the
value programmed . (+/- 3 digits)
If the message "Do you want to restart the Unit"
occurs, answer with NO.

• Stop Diamentor test After the recalibration of the Diamentor gain,


select this function call.
The Diamentor test is then disabled.
If the message "Do you want to restart the Unit"
occurs, answer with YES.

X-Iris

The following calibration functions are available:

call this function first.

Drive the X-Iris to the Image intensifier
format. If the blanking circle mask is
enabled, as minimum two edges of the
X-Iris must be visible. Select then this
function call. The actual position value
will then be stored in the RAM of the host.
If the message "Do you want to restart the Unit"
occurs, answer with NO.

• II - Zoom format position Select the II zoom format.


Drive the X-Iris to the image intensifier
format. If the blanking circle mask is
enabled, as minimum two edges of the
X-Iris must be visible. Select then this
function call. The actual position values
will then be stored in the RAM of the host.
If the message "Do you want to restart the Unit"
occurs, answer with NO.

• CEX position Drive the X-Iris to the maximum size.


Select then this function call. The actual
position value will then be stored in the

Mount the cassette holder with the
film cassette and film on the II.
Select 40 kV / 5mAs.
Develope the film and check the film.
The X-Iris should not be visible at the
edges of the exposure.

• Close position Mount a lead ruler on the II entrance.


Drive the X-Iris to a format of < 4.5 cm.

The horizontal and vertical image rotation must not be selected.
Due to the mechanical hysteresis of the slot diaphragm, adjust the slot diaphragm
from a small aperture to the correct value.

This can be called for easier Slot diaphragm
calibrations.

select this function call. All position values will then
be stored in the EEProm. You can check the
values after selection of the parameters.
The previous values must be equal with the
parameter values.
If the message "Do you want to restart the Unit"
occurs, answer with YES.

Note: After adjustments or changes of parameters,


these must be stored onto disk.

• Cassette switch off Simulation of the cassette switch for direct exposure
(function for final testing in the factory).

(function for final testing in the factory.
This allows multiple exposures with cassette changing.).

Internal tests (not available for service)

These test functions are not available for service.

Memoskop

The following test functions can be called:

• SMPTE SMPTE similar test image
• Grid Grid test image
• Horizontal ramp Horizontal ramp test image

Circle mask
• Disable circle mask Blanking circle mask is off. Serves for adjustment
of the X-Iris.
• Enable circle mask Blanking circle mask is on (default).

Videomed DC tests

The following test functions can be called:

• Start selftest Selftest of the camera is started. In the case of


possibly present Videomed DC errors, these are
entered in the error log.

The following software can be downloaded:


ARC = Software for positioning system collimator
FIL = Software for filament controller
SMC_PLUS = Software for host processor

The software for the board D1 can be updated by means of


download.
The floppy disk with the new software must be in drive A of
the service PC.

When the download menu is called, the software versions of


the host and the software version of the floppy disk are
compared and displayed in the window.

Attention! Never change the floppy disk during


download is active!

After successful download, switch system off and on again.


Check the SIREMOBIL Compact functions.

Memoskop C-E, Keyboard emulation

Memoskop C-E with part no. 44 07 669:


Use the Memoskop service program for settings. (Included in the LOG BOOK)

Memoskop C-E with part no. 44 66 322:


There is no keyboard for SIREMOBIL Compact with Memoskop C-E.
However, for replacing the Memoskop C-E or for changes in configuration,
a keyboard is needed.
In these cases, the keyboard must be emulated with the help of the service PC and
the program TERMINAL.EXE, delivered with the WINDOWS 3.1 / 3.11 software package.
The adapter, mounted on the keyboard jack of the
Memoskop C-E must always be used.
Leave this adapter (part no. 31 00 380) on the SIREMOBIL Compact.

Because the codes behind the service PC cursor keys are different to the
Memoskop Keyboard codes behind the cursor keys, the function keys of the
program TERMINAL.EXE must be activated and programmed.

Proceed as follows:

Terminal Emulation:
• Turn on the service PC and start WINDOWS.
• Start the program TERMINAL.EXE.
• Select the menu "Settings". (deutsch: "Einstellungen"
• Select the menu "Terminal emulation".
• Select "DEC VT-100 (ANSI)".
• Close the menu

Terminal Preferences:
• Select the menu "Settings" (deutsch: "Einstellungen"')
• Select the menu "Terminal Preferences". (deutsch:"Terminal-Einstellungen")
• Select "Translations" none.
• Select "IBM to ANSI" yes. (mark it with "x")
• Close the menu.

Communication:
• Select the menu "Settings" (deutsch "Einstellungen")
• Select the menu "Communications". (deutsch:"Datenübertragung")
• Select "Baud Rate" 9600.
• Select "Data Bits" 8
• Select "Stop Bits" 1.
• Select "Parity" none.
• Select "Flow Control" Xon / Xoff.
• Select the port used. (Com1 / Com2...)

Function keys:
• Select the menu "Settings" (deutsch: "Einstellungen"
• Select the menu "Function Keys". (deutsch: "Funktionstasten")
• Select "Keys Visible" yes. (deutsch: "Tasten anzeigen")
• Enter the following text to the datafields:

Release then the (*CTRL+) ALT - key. A special character will be
displayed and this character represents the necessary code.

For SIEMENS NIXDORF service PCs with no separate Num Keys:


The NUM LOCK key must be active.
Press the ALT - key, hold it down, press the FN - key and hold it down,
enter then 1 (= J) and 4 (=K) and 9 (=9) and release then all keys.
For other service PCs, we refer to the service PC user manual and
the Windows 3.1 / 3.11 user manual.

Save settings:
• Select the menu "File".
• Select the menu "Save as" and store the settings in a file.
The function keys (selectable with the mouse) will be displayed on the bottom side
of the program TERMINAL.EXE and will emulate the cursor keys and
special function keys , necessary for settings of the Memoskop C-E.

Memoskop video frequency configuration

After Download of the Memoskop or after change of it, the


Memoskop starts with the default video frequency (50Hz).
If the Monitors are configurated to another video frequency,
The configuration to the correct video frequency must be
done "blind".

Press the buttons "CTRL" and "T" at the same time on the Memoskop
keyboard. The technical setup is then selected.
Press the push button "2" on the Memoskop keyboard.
Confirm it with "Return", the menu "2" is now selected.
Depending on the necessary video frequency,
press the push button "->" (Cursor to the right direction)

"->" pressed 1 time: 60Hz video frequency.


"->" pressed 2 times: 100 Hz video frequency.
"->" pressed 3 times: 120 Hz video frequency.
"->" pressed 4 times: 50Hz video frequency.

"->" "->" "->" "->" ...


50Hz 60Hz 100Hz 120Hz 50Hz and so on.

"->" = push button cursor to the right direction


"<-" = push button to the left direction.

After the selection, press the push button "Return".


The video frequency will be switched to the selected video frequency.

Memoskop, configuration to the number of existing monitors

After change of the Memoskop, it starts with the default number


of existing monitors (2 Monitors).
For this reason, on SIREMOBIL Compact systems with one monitor only,
there is no text visible when calling up the Technical Setup of User Setup.
To aid you in the configuration, you can temporarily connect the existing
monitor to the Memoskop, video output OUT 2.
Press the buttons "CTRL" and "T" at the same time on the Memoskop
keyboard. The technical setup is then selected.
Press the push button "3" on the Memoskop keyboard and confirm it with "Return"
With the cursor keys -> or <-, select 1 Monitor.
After the selection, confirm it with "Return".
The text display will be switched to the video output OUT1.
Reconnect the monitor to the video output OUT 1.
Press the "HOME" button to terminate the Technical Setup.

Deleting error log

The error log can be deleted only after the backup.


Select Data, Backup.
Select Error log.
Then press the Backup key.
After successful backup, the query appears:
"Do you want to clear the Error log?".
Click "yes" and the error log is then deleted.

Backup

If calibrations or automatic adjustments (see monitoring overview) were


performed or parameters changed on the system,
the parameters must be backed up onto floppy disk
before exiting the service program.
You can make the desired selection in the Data, Backup menu.
After clicking the Backup button, the selected data are
backed up onto floppy disk.
You can add a short remark to each data record.
