INSTRUCTIONS
General Basics of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Lab Safety
1. Check whether the MCB / ELCB / main switch is off.
2. Eating, drinking, and smoking are strictly prohibited in the laboratory.
3. No unauthorized experiments are to be performed.
4. Never touch the live wire when circuit is on condition.
5. Make connections as per circuit diagram. Use flexible wire for connection of
ammeter & wattmeter. For rest of the connections, use thick wire. Do not keep loose
connection. Get it checked from teacher / Lab Assistant.
6. Coats, backpacks, etc., should not be left on the lab benches and stools.
7. Perform the experiment only in presence of teacher or Lab Assistant.

8. After completion of experiment, switch off the Fan/Light/MCB / ELCB / main

switch.

9. Learn where the safety and first-aid equipment is located. This includes fire
extinguishers, fire blankets, and eye-wash stations.
10. Notify the instructor immediately in case of an accident.

General Instructions
1. Attend the Lab sessions in time.
2. Switch-off your cell phones when you are in the lab.
3. Before attending the lab, you are expected to know which experiment you are going
to perform. Go through the details of the relevant experiment described in the lab
manual and try to understand as much as you can.
4. Bags should be kept on the specified place. On lab tables keep only whatever is
required for the experiment.
5. Handle the instruments with due care. Note that you are fully responsible for your
apparatus in your lab session.
6. Do the calculations and get it checked from the teacher.
7. Write the experiment in the journal and get it checked within week.

Instructions to write the journals:
All matter related to the experiment such as Aim, Theory, Apparatus, Circuit diagram,
Procedure, Observations, Calculations, Results and Conclusion, as given in the lab manual
are to be written in the journal. No compromise to be made.
1. The pages should be one side ruled and another side blank.
2. On ruled part start writing the text: Aim, Theory, Apparatus, Procedure, Results
and Conclusion.
3. The blank side of the first page (and if required, the second page) should be
used for circuit diagrams, observation tables and for calculations. (Calculations
and observations must be written with pen only). Only diagrams can be drawn
with pencil.
4. Write each step of calculations under sub heading of calculations.
5. Diagrams are to be drawn by using HB pencil. All rest of the matter should be
written by pen.
6. Sub headings must be highlight either by using distinct colour pen or underling
with any other pen.
