1. OBJECTIVES:
• To understand the scope and nature of urban design as a discipline
• To introduce the components of a city and their interdependent roles.
• To understand the evolution of historic urban form
• To learn to interpret the city in different ways and layers.
• To create awareness of contemporary urban issues as well as learn about possible ways to
address them
OUTCOMES
The students looked at various components and aspects associated with the urban environment
in - terms of physical infrastructure, socio cultural aspects, gender issues etc. and looked at
ways to address them through their designs
Mapping and diagramming techniques were explored in the design process to help explore the
design process better.
