COURSE OBJECTIVES

1. OBJECTIVES:
• To understand the scope and nature of urban design as a discipline
• To introduce the components of a city and their interdependent roles.
• To understand the evolution of historic urban form
• To learn to interpret the city in different ways and layers.
• To create awareness of contemporary urban issues as well as learn about possible ways to
address them

OUTCOMES

 The students looked at various components and aspects associated with the urban environment
in - terms of physical infrastructure, socio cultural aspects, gender issues etc. and looked at
ways to address them through their designs
 Mapping and diagramming techniques were explored in the design process to help explore the
design process better.
