Katreji As Acculturation Between Indonesia and Portuguese
Katreji dance is performed by male dancers and female dancers in pairs. The number
of Katreji dancers usually consists of 4-6 pairs of male and female dancers. In the
performance, dancers wore traditional clothing and dance with their unique
movements to follow the accompaniment of music. The movement in Katreji dance is
very energetic and varied. Although the movements tend to be European-style, there
are still some Maluku-style movements that are still visible. This may be due to the
acculturation of very different cultures so that to combine the two cultures is too
difficult.
The costumes used in the Katreji dance performances are Maluku traditional clothes.
For female dancers they usually use “kebaya” clothing and long cloth at the bottom.
While on the head, the dancer's hair "dikonde" and decorated with flower decorations
as a sweetener. Whereas male dancers usually wear long clothes and long pants.
Katreji dance is usually accompanied by music such as violin, bamboo flute, ukulele,
drums, karakas, and others. In addition to movement, the music played also tends to
be European-style and to complement, also added some traditional musical
instruments in it. The rhythm that is played in accompanying the Katreji dance is a
fast rhythm that illustrates the fun in it.

o The Corridinho is a folk dance internationally well known from Portugal which
symbolized unity through physical and emotional connection. This dance originates
from the Algarve region. The Algarve region is Portugal's Southernmost area, known

although it gained popularity in the 1800’s. The name Corridinho derives from the
verb correr (to run) which partly describes this type of dance. This dance was
performed in a round (dança de roda) in the open air. The oldest musical instruments
recorded were small flutes or fifes (pífaro) and harmonicas, (harmónica) until the
accordion was implemented and dominated ever since. Corridinho has left a legacy
