PREFACE
Today a country’s economic development depends upon its banking and financial system. It
has become the backbone of the modern business. Country’s economic development or
progress highly depends upon the smooth and risk free functioning of the country’s banking
system. Thus, banking sector has been modernized by adopting new technology and
computerization to reach to each person of the country for providing banking facilities.
As the economy is transforming itself toward digitalization and making it cashless, payments
banks becomes the major element for this transformation. The Payment banks comes in
existence on 19th August 2015 but people were not aware about these banks. So, Reserve
Bank of India (RBI) has provided license to famous and efficient working companies which
already have a huge platform of customers. Under the payment banks plan Airtel payment
bank came into operation on 13 January 2017. Airtel is one of the largest telecom service
providers in India, which have customers of more than 580 million.
As the economy is upgrading itself towards cashless payments, the risk of cyber threats also
increases day by day. It harms the customers in both the ways viz. financial as well as mental
or emotional. Therefore, sometimes consumer changes their perception towards the usage of
payment banks. Thus, a research is done to study the perception of consumers towards cyber
security risks associated with Airtel Payment Banks. Under this I study the importance of
bringing the Payment Banks into the financial System. And then I finally, asses the
perception of consumers towards the cyber security risks associated with Airtel Payment
Bank.
Key Words: Airtel Payment Bank, Cyber Security Risks, Consumer’s Perception
