Student Response and Assessment Tools

Lesson Idea Name: Counting to 20

Content Area: Math

Grade Level(s):1st

Content Standard Addressed: MGSE1.OA.6 Add and subtract within 20.

Technology Standard Addressed: Students use a variety of technologies within a design process to identify
and solve problems by creating new, useful or imaginative solutions

Selected Technology Tool:

☐ Socrative ☐ iRespond ☐ Quizlet ☐ Plickers X Kahoot! ☐ Office365 Forms
☐ Other:
URL(s) to support the lesson (if applicable):

Technology that student will use to respond to questions/prompts:

☐ Computer ☐ Hand-held student response system (like iRespond) ☐ Phone X Tablet (such as iPad)
☐ Other wireless device (such as iPod Touch)

Type of session:
X Teacher-Paced ☐ Student-Paced

Bloom’s Taxonomy Level(s):

☐ Remembering ☐ Understanding X Applying ☐ Analyzing ☐ Evaluating ☐ Creating

Universal Design for Learning (UDL):

The students are able to answer at there own pace, and have the answers in front of them. As the teacher I
will also read the questions aloud more than once.

Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity.
We are going to use the Kahoot! As a pretest to see what they already know about adding and subtracting
within 20. I will introduce the topic and do a few sample problems on the board so they know what to
expect in the Kahoot!

Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
X Assess prior knowledge ☐ Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) ☐ To illuminate common
misconceptions ☐ Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) ☐ Summative assessment of content knowledge ☐ Test preparation
☐ Survey/Poll ☐ Discussion starter ☐ “Homework” collection ☐ Other (please explain):

Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity:

Students will answer questions that come on the board while the teacher reads them aloud. This will be
teacher paced, but I will wait until all the students have answered to move on. Students may use scratch
paper if they want. This activity should only take around 10 minutes.

Type of questions/prompts used in this activity (check all that apply):
X Multiple choice ☐ Multiple select ☐ True/False ☐ Yes/No
☐ Short open-ended response or fill-in the blank ☐ Longer open-ended response

If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (8-10):

Right/Wrong answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions?

X Yes ☐ No
☐ Mixed (Some will have correct answers, other will not.)

Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some of all of the questions and
display correct response to the class after the SRT activity?
X Yes
☐ No
Why or why not? This will allow the teacher to know where the students are in the subject, and see what
students need the most work.

Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity?

Students will be split into small groups based on their score for insrtuction.

How will the data be used?

This Kahoot will not be for a grade but it will be used to place them in different small groups.

Describe your personal learning goal for this activity.

I hope that this activity will allow me to see the knowledge my students have on adding and subtracting
numbers within 20.

Reflective Practice:
This will be done as a intro, and I think since the point of this lesson is to put students in groups based on
knowledge if every group did their own project about the subject. This will help the students learn from each
other.
