Only change values in "System Design" Sheet
Num SELECTION INPUT Cell: please select one of the values in these cells.
Num OUTPUT Cell: please do not insert any values in these cells.
Num INPUT RECOMMENDATION Cell, please do not insert any value in these cells.
It is best not to use "DAY TIME" cells under "DAILY USAGE" cells when calculating the load. If possible,
Load Information try to use "NIGHT TIME" cells only.
Only use "DAY TIME" if you must save money on batteries and your day load is not essential, unless yo
have a back-up generator to use during cloudy days. Otherwise, input all the loads in "NIGHT TIME" ce
only.
Location of the The location specific information provided by the Atlas of "SOLARGIS" at www.solargis.com. It is
considered as one of the most detailed and most reliable provider of the weather and solar informatio
System and databases. It is trusted and used by many organization in the field such.
Temperature Losses:
Change the loss percent based on the Ambient Temperature of the city. Also refer to the PV module ty
and temperature coefficient derating in the datasheet.
Module Mismatch, Diodes, & Connections Losses:
PV module mismatch realizes that manufacturing does not produce identical PV modules. Current-
voltage characteristics vary slightly from module-to-module. PVWATTS recommends a default value of
0.98, or 2% loss due to PV module mismatch. Also, a voltage drop is exhibited across blocking diodes
when installed in a PV system.
DC Wiring Losses:
Voltage drop within the PV system DC wiring accounts for system losses between the
modules and inverter.
AC Wiring Losses:
Voltage drop within the PV system AC wiring accounts for system losses between the
inverter and utility-owned electrical meter.
Soiling (Dust, Dirt, etc…) Losses:
Soiling represents the absorption, shading or scattering of energy by the presence of dirt, or other deb
on the surface of PV modules. Soiling reduces the amount of solar radiation reaching the solar cells of
the PV modules. Soiling is geographical, seasonal and weather dependent.
System Availability Losses:
System availability accounts for PV system maintenance downtime and utility outages. The default val
of 0.98 represents the system being off for 2% of the year. This is approximately 7 days per year.
Shading Losses:
The derating factor for shading occurs when PV modules are shaded by nearby structures or objects. T
default value of 1.00 assumes the PV modules are not shaded.
Age Losses:
The age derating factor primarily represents weathering of the PV modules. The performance loss can
assumed to be 1% per year. Using the default value of 1.00 assumes that PV system is in its 1st year of
operation.
