Field Experience Reflection

With the Tomorrows Teachers Program I got an opportunity to experience what it’s like to

be a teacher. I was able to get to know the kids and help them. I also had the chance to teach my

own lesson. The field experience I received from this really increased my interest in becoming a

teacher. In my field experience I worked with 7th graders and an amazing teacher who helped me

with so much. He taught me many valuable lessons about teaching and included me in the class

as much as possible. Because of this I got to experience a lot. In the first few weeks of being

there I was observing and asking questions. While observing I learned many things about class

management. Including ways to handle misbehaved students and how to create lessons.

Normally I am a very shy person and it takes a lot of time for me to feel comfortable. But when I

was in my class, it felt right, and the students made me feel so comfortable. During my

experience I also got the chance to attend a holocaust survivor speak. Another thing I enjoyed

was watching another class preform a play and seeing them practice. I have a passion for helping

and educating others, and because of that I enjoyed this field experience a lot.

If I could have this experience again, I don’t think I would change anything. Expect I wish I

had more time with the students to get to know them better and interact one on one. My favorite

part about this was seeing the students get excited about a lesson. My cooperating teacher and I

picked out an article and set up a Socratic seminar about the COVID-19 outbreak. This was cool

to watch and hear the student’s thoughts, and evidence they chose from the article. My field

experience was very memorable and taught me so much. I am excited to become a teacher

myself and get to experience this longer.

From this experience I learned good qualities to have as a teacher. Having patience and being

understand is key. Every student is different, some needing different instruction. I also learned

how important it is to stay organized. My cooperating teacher allowed me to grade homework

and projects. This gave me some knowledge about grading techniques and rubrics. One

important thing I learned was how much a teacher can impact someone’s life. They are there to

teach life lessons as well as academic lessons. Being a teacher can have a lot of pressure, from

students, parents, administration, etc. But staying positive and taking things one step at a time is

very helpful.

After this field experience I want to be a teacher even more than before. Since I was little,

I’ve always wanted to become a teacher, after looking up to my family members who are

teachers. I love helping others and having an impact on them. Also, I believe educating others is

an important factor in changing the world. With education, you can create a foundation for

students and guide them to the person they strive to become. Being one of those people who

helps them along the way is important to me. I am very grateful to have had this experience. It

gave me a glimpse of what I hope is my future. In a couple years from now, I will look back on

this experience and be thankful for all the things it has taught me and finally be able to put them

to action.
