Subject: Prevention and Recovery Procedures for Codes CD010, CD011, CD050, CFA14

Supersedes Bulletin #10041 dated 3/9/16, which is now obsolete.

An error code CD010, CD011, CD050, or CFA14 may occur on any of the MFPs listed above. If this happens, you will need
to use the recovery procedure described in this bulletin.

NOTE: To prevent the likelihood of these codes occurring and generating additional service calls, we suggest that you flash
each machine with the Preventive firmware at setup, installation, or the next service call.
You will need the following files, which can be obtained via One Stop Product Support on MyKonicaMinolta.com.

Note that you will need a separate USB thumb drive for each of the files. The thumb drives must be formatted for FAT32.
With any U3 (SanDisk) thumb drives, the software must be removed using this link. Do not attempt to combine firmware
files on a single thumb drive.
A list of approved 1~8 GB thumb drives can be found in the SSD Knowledgebase (KBA00026635) and is attached to this
bulletin.
The attached pages “Extracting and Flashing Firmware” provide detailed instructions for preparing and installing the
firmware listed above. If you are unsure about the procedure, refer to those directions and follow them exactly to avoid
installation problems.

PROCEDURES
Preventive Procedure. Use this procedure at setup, installation, or the next service call to prevent the occurrence of these
error codes.
Flash the machine using the Preventive firmware (A7PU0Y0-F000-GXX-B0).

• Refer to page 5 of the special instructions (attached) for installing this firmware.
• Wait 2-4 minutes for the machine to recognize the firmware.
• If the firmware does not install, try it a second time, waiting 2-4 minutes.
Recovery Procedure. If an error code has already occurred, use this procedure.
Flash the machine using the Recovery Tool firmware (A7PU0Y0-F000-GXX-A8).

• Refer to page 6 of the special instructions (attached) for installing this firmware.
• Wait 2-4 minutes for the machine to recognize the firmware. Note that this firmware will begin installing
automatically and display a message when it has been installed successfully.
• If the firmware does not install, try it a second time, waiting 2-4 minutes.
Additional Troubleshooting. If the error persists after performing the recovery procedure:
1. Check the HDD grounding.
2. Reseat the HDD connectors.
3. Check and reseat all MFPB connectors.
4. Replace the MFPB and/or the HDD.

Extracting and Flashing Firmware
bizhub C258, C308, C368 Error Prevention and Recovery
This document describes the procedure to download, prepare, and install error prevention and recovery
firmware on the bizhub C258, C308, and C368.
OVERVIEW
1. Download the firmware files from One Stop Product Support on MyKonicaMinolta.com.
2. Extract the downloaded file to a folder on your computer (not to a USB thumb drive).
3. Prepare a 1~8 GB USB thumb drive for each firmware file.

• Thumb drive must be formatted for FAT32.
• Remove U3 software (SanDisk thumb drives) using this link.
• Only 1 firmware version permitted on any thumb drive. No other files on thumb drive.
4. Copy the entire FW0002 folder (located inside the unzipped folder) to the thumb drive.
• This should be the only thing in the root of the thumb drive.
5. Install the firmware from the thumb drive

• To prevent the codes, use the “Other FW Update” option on the firmware Update
screen. (See the Preventive Procedure on page 5.)
• To recover from existing codes, use the Recovery Procedure (page 6).
6. When finished, verify that the SATA Controller firmware version ends in G00-04.
DETAILED STEPS
• Download the file from One Stop Product Support.

a. Navigate to the One Stop Product Support page on MyKonicaMinolta.com.
b. In the Quick Search box, type the model number and select Base Firmware.

c. Download the desired file.

• Place the file on a computer hard drive – not a USB thumb drive.
• The file downloads as an .exe format which, when run, will run an extraction (unzip)
routine. This .exe file in this form cannot be installed directly on the MFP.
• These instructions use the Recovery Tool firmware: A7PU0Y0-F00-GXX-A8. The
procedure applies to both firmware versions in this bulletin.
• Extract the file.

a. Double-click the downloaded file.
If prompted to Run or Cancel,
select Run.
b. Select the location you want to

extract the files to and click
Extract.
c. Wait while
the file is
unzipped.
• Prepare a 1~8 GB USB thumb drive.

into the computer.
b. Open “My Computer”

and right-click on the
thumb drive, identified
with a drive letter.
c. Select “Format”.
d. Allow the thumb drive to be formatted using these

settings.
• FAT32 (Default).
• Default allocation size.
• Check “Quick format”.
• Click “Start”.
• Copy the FW0002 Folder from the computer to the thumb drive.
a. Locate and right-click
on the folder you
previously extracted.
b. Open the folder

created by the
extraction (in this
case: A7PU0Y0-F000-
GXX-A8).
c. Right click on the

FW0002 folder and
select “Copy”.
d. Click on the thumb drive

and click “Paste”.
e. Wait while the folder copies to the root

of the thumb drive.
• Remove the thumb drive from the

computer after the copy is
completed.
• Install the firmware on the MFP.

a. Power the MFP OFF.
b. Insert the thumb drive in the front USB

port located on the right side of the
control panel.
c. Press and hold the STOP button on the

operation panel while turning the MFP
ON.
d. When the operation panel displays 2 pillars and a small black dot in the top right corner of
the screen, release the STOP button.
Preventive Procedure
This procedure applies only when installing the Preventive firmware (GXX-B0).
If installing the Recovery firmware, use the Recovery Procedure on page 6.
e. Wait until the Firmware

Update screen appears. At
the bottom of the screen,
select Other FW Update.
f. On the next screen, touch

“SATA Controller”.
g. Press “Start” on the screen to

begin loading the firmware.
h. When the Start button turns blue (indicating that the firmware has been loaded), turn the
machine OFF and remove the thumb drive.
i. Wait 10 seconds; then turn the machine ON.
• The MFP will take 3-6 minutes to boot the first time after the firmware is loaded.
j. Verify that the firmware was installed correctly.

Recovery Procedure
This procedure applies only when installing the Recovery firmware (GXX-A8).
If installing the Preventive firmware, use the Preventive Procedure on page 5.
e. The firmware will begin installing automatically. Wait while the firmware installs.
f. When the firmware has

installed successfully, a
