The document outlines different levels of analysis for urban design study including macro, intermediate and micro levels. It also provides a detailed checklist for studying and analyzing various attributes.

The three levels of analysis outlined are macro, intermediate and micro. The macro level looks at the image and pattern of the city. The intermediate level examines buildings, spaces and the user environment. The micro level focuses on the user environment and human scale.

Factors considered for analysis of the built environment morphology include identification of character districts, study of built form typologies, understanding of vernacular and contemporary development patterns, and study of street characters, public spaces and their built forms.

For Analysis in detail:

Spatial Analysis

The spatial analysis consists of two plans.

First the Regional Spatial Analysis Plan will identify the community context at 400 and 800 meter radius
from the site. This plan should include the following:
a. Regional Landmarks
b. Nodes (i.e. Shopping Areas, Community Centres, Employment Areas, Public Spaces, Transit Hubs)
c. Neighborhood or City Gateways and Focal Points
d. Major Transportation and Transit Routes
e. Significant Regional View Corridors and Vistas
f. The surrounding urban fabric

Second, the Site Spatial Analysis Plan will provide information on the immediate context of the site. The
following items should be considered:
a. Topography;
b. Surrounding Official Plan and Zoning Designations
c. Photographs of the site and surrounding area
d. View corridors and vistas to and from the site;
e. Composition of surrounding and neighboring character and land uses;
f. General analysis of the urban pattern (streets and blocks) in the immediate area (include figure-
ground analysis of surrounding area);
g. Accessibility and Connectivity patterns (automobile, cycling, pedestrian, transit etc.) to and around
the site;
h. Landscaping in the area;
i. Opportunities for tree preservation;
j. Edges, Paths, Barriers, Gateways, Landmarks, Nodes (i.e. focal points, parks, activity areas) within and
around the vicinity of the site.

Proceed with the other analysis similarly…………
