a) Engineering profession involve engineers, engineering technologists and engineering technicians. In order to
generate the required human resources the formal engineering and technical education system operate
education programs at three levels. Internationally there are three agreements (Accords) to cover the quality
of education programs in these three areas. Give a brief description about these accords and the education
programs they accredit. [6 Marks]
b) Explain briefly the major differences between the contents of Bachelors programs in Engineering and in
Engineering technology. [8 Marks]
c) What are the accrediting agencies of engineering & technology education programs in Sri Lanka and what

a) Freehand sketching and computer aided drawing are vital for presenting engineering information. Comment
briefly on the importance, applications and available tools for the two methods. [6 Marks]
b) Statistics is used to understand information contained in large amounts of data. Descriptive statistics involve
pictographs such as pie charts, bar charts and other diagrams to highlight specific features of data. When
interpreting statistics, parameters such as mean,mode, median, variance etc. are used. Define
