Semi-Detailed Lesson Plan on Subject-Verb Agreement
I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
a. state the rules of Subject-Verb Agreement;
b. sustain interest in studying Subject-Verb Agreement; and
c. construct their own sentences using correct Subject-Verb Agreement.
II. Subject Matter
General Topic: Sentence Structure (Grammar)
Specific Topic: Subject-Verb Agreement
Materials: Manila paper, Cartolina, Ball
References: Everyday English That Really Works pages 10-13
by: De la Cruz, Billiones, Castro, Bayle
Values Integration: How is following correct structure similar to our
society? Explain its significance to you.
III. Learning Procedure
A. Preliminary Activity
a. Prayer
b. Checking of Attendance
c. Review/Drill
1. The teacher asks about the previous lesson.
2. Students recite words they can recall from the lesson.
d. Motivation
The teacher will disseminate halves of the heart to different
students for them to find their match to other students.
Questions:
1. What if the shape that you have is not match to someone, would you
still push yourself through just to fit in?
2. Do you think it is better to match to something/someone especially
when you know that you have the same feather?
B. During the Lesson
Highlighting of Form
1. The teacher presents the Subject-Verb Agreement through an
interactive discussion.
2. The teacher will give a ball where they have to keep it on passing and
when the teacher said stop, students should stop and the one who holds
the ball will be the one to recite.
3. The teacher will let the last student who holds the ball pick a number
from 1-8 where each number has a corresponding rule on the S-V-A.
4. The teacher will ask the student to read the rule and give example as
well.
C. Generalization
Students synthesize the lesson by giving the rules on the subject-verb
agreement.
IV. Evaluation
If the sentence is grammatically correct, write C before the number. If
there is an error in the subject-verb agreement, write the correct form of
the verb.
