Packaging Assignment
Due Date: Thursday, April 11th
Objective
The profit margin in the sale of a single can of beverage or soup is very
small. Companies that make and sell canned goods understand that the
appearance of the can on the shelf has a direct influence over the
customer’s desire to purchase one product over another. Students will
bring in a canned good from their home and use Adobe Illustrator to design
a new package. Appropriate planning is required to ensure the final
package is appropriately sized and has required content. Carefully consider
the branding of the company, colours, symbols and images, typography,
package dimensions, etc.
Steps
1. Choose a package from a product you are familiar with.
2. Create a new folder called “PackageLabel” and store all elements of this project in this
folder.
3. Complete the Package Label Project Planning Page
4. Brainstorm as many surface text and art elements as you can related to the package’s
content and company (this can be fictional).
5. Generate an accurate sketch by carefully organizing all text image and layout that is to
scale.
6. Use Adobe Illustrator to create the package. Carefully consider all aspects of the
product being created: image size, typography, colours, layout, imagery, etc.
7. Ensure that you have extra paper to wrap around the package to glue the edge.
8. Save this file as (YourName)[Link]
9. Export your images to a PDF called (YourName)[Link]
10. Print your labelling and attach it to the packaging.
11. Submit your AI and PDF files to the dropbox folder with your name on it.
12. Create a “Design Brief” discussing and justifying your design choices.

Brainstorm ideas, text and images to include on the label .
This canned nut chocolate is mainly for children. Some cartoon
pictures will encourage them to buy it，and the cover must let the
customer know what this product is.First, I will find a picture of nut
chocolate on the cover to let the buyer know about this product，and
then added some expressions to the pictures, which would attract
children. At the same time, chocolate is also favorite food for children，
getting children to know the food in the jar intuitively also will increases
the buying rate.
Covers must be attractive, so we can use bright colors in order to
quickly find them on the shelf, so i used yellow .At the same time,
meteors are used to fill the blank in the background.
