GATHERING SONG: Jesus Christ Is Risen Today (ELW 365)
GREETING
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be
with you all!
And also with you!
KYRIE
CANTICLE OF PRAISE
Let us pray.
O God, you gave your only Son to suffer death on the cross for our redemption, and by his
glorious resurrection you delivered us from the power of death. Make us die every day to sin,
that we may live with him forever in the joy of the resurrection, through your Son, Jesus Christ
our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
Amen.
Please be seated.
More than 700 years before Christ, the prophet Isaiah proclaims the good news of God’s
salvation and calls all people to rejoice! The Lord will make a rich feast for God’s people. The
Lord will wipe the tears from their eyes. And most importantly, the Lord will destroy death itself.
6
On this mountain the LORD of hosts will make for all peoples
a feast of rich food, a feast of well-aged wines,
of rich food filled with marrow, of well-aged wines strained clear.
7
And he will destroy on this mountain
the shroud that is cast over all peoples,
the sheet that is spread over all nations;
8
he will swallow up death forever.
Then the Lord GOD will wipe away the tears from all faces,
and the disgrace of his people he will take away from all the earth,
for the LORD has spoken.
9
It will be said on that day,
Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, so that he might save us.
This is the LORD for whom we have waited;
let us be glad and rejoice in his salvation.
Refrain:
Tone:
1
Give thanks to the LORD, for the | LORD is good;
God’s mercy en- | dures forever.
2
Let Israel | now declare,
“God’s mercy en- | dures forever.”
14
The LORD is my strength | and my song,
and has become | my salvation.
15
Shouts of rejoicing and salvation echo in the tents | of the righteous:
“The right hand of the | LORD acts valiantly!
16
The right hand of the LORD| is exalted!
The right hand of the | LORD acts valiantly!”
17
I shall not | die, but live,
and declare the works | of the LORD. R
18
The LORD indeed pun- | ished me sorely,
but did not hand me o- | ver to death.
19
Open for me the | gates of righteousness;
I will enter them and give thanks | to the LORD.
20
“This is the gate | of the LORD;
here the righ- | teous may enter.”
21
I give thanks to you, for you have | answered me
and you have become | my salvation. R
22
The stone that the build- | ers rejected
has become the chief | cornerstone.
23
By the LORD has | this been done;
it is marvelous | in our eyes.
24
This is the day that the | LORD has made;
let us rejoice and be | glad in it. R
SECOND READING: I Corinthians 15:1-11
The core of the Christian faith and Paul’s preaching is the death and resurrection of Jesus
Christ. As the crucified and risen Christ appeared to the earliest of his followers, so we
experience the presence of the risen Lord in the preaching of this faith.
1
Now I would remind you, brothers and sisters, of the good news that I proclaimed to you, which
you in turn received, in which also you stand, 2through which also you are being saved, if you
hold firmly to the message that I proclaimed to you—unless you have come to believe in vain.
3
For I handed on to you as of first importance what I in turn had received: that Christ died for
our sins in accordance with the scriptures, 4and that he was buried, and that he was raised on the
third day in accordance with the scriptures, 5and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the
twelve. 6Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers and sisters at one time, most of
whom are still alive, though some have died. 7Then he appeared to James, then to all the
apostles. 8Last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me. 9For I am the least of the
apostles, unfit to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10But by the grace
of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me has not been in vain. On the contrary, I worked
harder than any of them—though it was not I, but the grace of God that is with me. 11Whether
then it was I or they, so we proclaim and so you have come to believe.
GOSPEL ACCLAMATION
The resurrection of Jesus is announced, and the response is one of terror and amazement.
1
When the sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome
bought spices, so that they might go and anoint [Jesus’ body]. 2And very early on the first day of
the week, when the sun had risen, they went to the tomb. 3They had been saying to one another,
“Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance to the tomb?” 4When they looked up, they
saw that the stone, which was very large, had already been rolled back. 5As they entered the
tomb, they saw a young man, dressed in a white robe, sitting on the right side; and they were
alarmed. 6But he said to them, “Do not be alarmed; you are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who
was crucified. He has been raised; he is not here. Look, there is the place they laid him. 7But go,
tell his disciples and Peter that he is going ahead of you to Galilee; there you will see him, just as
he told you.” 8So they went out and fled from the tomb, for terror and amazement had seized
them; and they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid.

I renounce them.

be the theme of our lives, and may we share in the glory of the risen Christ in eternity. Lord, in
your mercy,
hear our prayer.
Pastor: Joining our voices with your faithful ones in every time and place, we offer our prayers in

THANKSGIVING AT THE FONT
We give you thanks, O God, for in the beginning your Spirit moved over the waters and by your
Word you created the world, calling forth life in which you took delight. Through the waters of
the flood you delivered Noah and his family, and through the sea you led your people Israel from
slavery into freedom. At the river your Son was baptized by John and anointed with the Holy
Spirit. By the baptism of Jesus' death and resurrection you set us free from the power of sin and
death and raise us up to live in you.
Pour out your Holy Spirit, the power of your living Word, that those who are washed in the
waters of baptism may be given new life. To you be given honor and praise through Jesus Christ
our Lord, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, now and forever.
Amen.
Kristi, you have made public profession of your faith. Do you intend to continue in the covenant
God made with you in holy baptism:
to live among God’s faithful people,
to hear the word of God and share in the Lord’s supper,
to proclaim the good news of God in Christ through word and deed,
to serve all people, following the example of Jesus,
and to strive for justice and peace in all the earth?
Kristi responds:
I do, and I ask God to help and guide me.
Those making public affirmation stand and face the assembly. A representative of the
congregation addresses the assembly.
Let us rejoice with this sister in Christ.
We rejoice with you in the life of baptism. Together we will give thanks and praise to God
and proclaim the good news to all the world.

DIALOGUE
PREFACE
HOLY, HOLY, HOLY (ELW 190)
EUCHARISTIC PRAYER
You are indeed holy, almighty and merciful God. You are most holy, and great is the majesty of
your glory.
You so loved the world that you gave your only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may
not perish but have eternal life.
We give you thanks for his coming into the world to fulfill for us your holy will and to
accomplish all things for our salvation.
For as often as we eat of this bread and drink from this cup, we proclaim the Lord's death until he
comes.
Remembering, therefore, his salutary command, his life-giving passion and death, his glorious
resurrection and ascension, and the promise of his coming again, we give thanks to you, O Lord
God Almighty, not as we ought but as we are able; we ask you mercifully to accept our praise
and thanksgiving and with your Word and Holy Spirit to bless us, your servants, and these your
own gifts of bread and wine, so that we and all who share in the body and blood of Christ may be
filled with heavenly blessing and grace, and, receiving the forgiveness of sin, may be formed to
live as your holy people and be given our inheritance with all your saints.
To you, O God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, be all honor and glory in your holy church, now
and forever.
LORD'S PRAYER
Risen Lord, remember us in your kingdom, and teach us to pray:
INVITATION TO COMMUNION
LAMB OF GOD
SONGS DURING DISTRIBUTION:
Let us pray.
Life-giving God, in the mystery of Christ's resurrection you send light to conquer darkness,
water to give new life, and the bread of life to nourish your people. Send us forth as witnesses to
your Son's resurrection, that we may show your glory to all the world, through Jesus Christ, our
risen Lord.
Amen.
O God of tender compassion, as you healed the sick and welcomed the stranger, bless those who
leave this assembly to share the gifts of this table with our sisters and brothers who are
sick/homebound/imprisoned. May they be sustained by the love and prayers of this community,
and by the Bread of Life that satisfies all hunger, Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
BLESSING
The God of peace, who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the
sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, make you complete in everything good so that you
may do God's will, working in you that which is pleasing in God's sight; through + Jesus Christ,
to whom be the glory forever and ever.
Amen.
