BIOS Update Instruction

IMPORTANT!
Only update your BIOS if system is unstable or bug solutions correspond with your
needs. Flashing BIOS incorrectly has risk to damage your system. Please check the
guide and follow all of steps.

Things to prepare:
USB Flash Drive
Notebook/Laptop
Default power supply
Internet connection

1. Visit MSI official website and download the latest BIOS.

Click on the link below and enter your product's name (such as: GT72S 6QF) in the
search bar to find the BIOS download page of your notebook.
https://www.msi.com/support

2. Extract the downloaded file to the root directory of your USB flash drive.

3. Shut down the system directly by pressing Shift key and click Shut down
as below.

4. Power on your notebook with AC adapter. Please make sure that your notebook is
running with AC Power during entire update process.

5. Press DEL key when MSI logo is displayed and you will enter BIOS setup utility.

6. Select Advanced and scroll down to UEFI BIOS Update. Then, press
Enter key.

7. Press Enter key on UEFI BIOS Update to start BIOS update process.

8. Select the USB flash drive which includes the downloaded BIOS ROM file.

9. Select the folder which includes the downloaded BIOS ROM. If you put the BIOS
ROM under the root directory of your USB flash, please skip this step.

10. Find the BIOS ROM file and press Enter key.

11. Select Yes.

12. Press Ok and the notebook will start rebooting automatically.

13. After reboot, system will enter BIOS setup utility. Press Enter key on Proceed
with flash update.

14. When you see the message as the screenshot below, please do reset EC firmware
by following the instructions.

Turn off the notebook and unplug AC adapter, and then wait for at least 7
seconds.
Press Enter key when you see the message below and system will reboot
and log in Windows. After you enter Windows, please shut down the system
and remove AC adapter, and then wait for at least 7 seconds.

The update is finished, please turn on your notebook.
