Two friends, Tom and John, discuss their career choices in their senior year of school. John wants to become a doctor so he can serve people, including those in remote villages. As the country has a shortage of doctors, he believes this is an important profession. Tom wants to be an agricultural officer to help the country's agriculture-based economy by teaching modern farming methods to farmers and conducting agricultural research. Both agree their career choices are noble but will require hard work to achieve, including doing well on their upcoming HSC examination.

Dialogue Writing

A Dialogue literally means conversation


between two people.
A written Dialogue should be so composed that
it appears to be spontaneous and well within
the context.

Write a dialogue between two friends on the


choice of career
Tom : Hello John , how are you ?
John : Fine, thank you. How about you?
Tom : Im also fine . John, we are in our senior
year now. So we must choose our career as
soon as possible.
John : You are quite right. Success in life
depends on the right choice of career.
Tom : We must choose our career properly.
May I know your choice of career?
John : Yes, of course. I have decided to
become a doctor. Do you like this profession?
Tom : Yes I do. It is a good profession. Could
you tell me why you have chosen this
profession?
John : Most of our people are deprived of the
service of the doctors.
Tom : Yes there are shortage of good doctors
in our country. The people who live in the
villages cannot consult a good doctor.
John : I want to serve the people.
Tom : Are you willing to go to the villagers if
necessary?
John : Yes, of course. Through this
profession I will be able to earn
money honestly. Well, could you tell me about
your choice of career?
Tom : Of course. I want to be an agricultural
officer.
John : Most students like to be a Doctor,
Engineer or Administrator. Why not you?
Tom : Our country is an agricultural country.
Our economy depends on agriculture.
John : Yes, it is right. Please tell me about
your plan.
Tom : I will get myself admitted into an
Agricultural University. After completing my
education I will join the service of agriculture
cadre. I will do research on agriculture.
John : Its a noble profession too.
Tom : Ill teach farmers the modern method of
cultivation.
John : I appreciate your plan.
Tom : Only choosing career is not enough. We
must work hard to fulfil our plan.
John : Of course. We must do well in the
H.S.C Examination otherwise we will not be
able to become a Doctor or an agricultural
officer.
Tom : Of course . Thank you, John. It was
really nice speaking to you.
John : Youre welcome . Good bye. See you
again.
Tom : Bye
