Lafarge
Lafarge
products and new solutions for customers across the construction industry,
including a new range of cements, high-strength concrete, and multipurpose
drywall, bringing greater safety, comfort, and quality to everyday surroundings.
Research
Research Centers
The Lafarge Research Center in France is the largest building materials laboratory in
the world. Its activities are complemented by local teams in a network of technical
centers around the globe. The technical center in North America, known as Corporate
Technical Services, is located in Montreal.
Innovation
Innovative Products
Lafarge strives to provide products that are innovative and offer high added value. We
understand that customers have specific expectations of materials suppliers, so we are
constantly striving for new architectural and structural solutions that can have a positive
and sustainable impact on projects.
The result: time savings, less noise pollution and less physical labor on the building
site. This easy-to-use concrete flows into the smallest nooks and perfectly matches any
shape. It is robust and aesthetically pleasing.
Lightweight Aggregates
Lafarge has more than 45 years of slag processing experience in North America and
markets over one million tonnes annually. Half of this is expanded into a variety of low-
density aggregates that are supplied to customers throughout the Great Lakes and
Mississippi River basin. The balance is ground to produce slag cement. In Canada,
Lafarge is the largest producer of lightweight aggregates.
Lafarge processes molten blast furnace slag using any of three means: Expanding,
pelletizing, and air-cooling. These yield raw materials that can be used for many
construction related applications.
In the 1960's, Lafarge developed and patented technology to produce two products:
Litex brand lightweight aggregate, a vitrified, hard, lightweight aggregate, and Vitrex
brand pelletized slag, a material that is ground into slag cement.
In the 1990's, Lafarge developed and patented an innovative slag expanding process to
produce an even lighter weight aggregate, True Lite Lightweight Aggregate brand
aggregate. This low-density product is approximately 35 percent lighter than most
natural aggregates.
Self-Consolidating Concrete
New Horizons for Self-Consolidating Concrete
Self-Consolidating concrete, (SCC) is a highly fluid and flowable concrete that moves
under it's weight to spread into place. With no need for vibration or other types of
finishing labour, this type of concrete easily pours past congested reinforcement and
rebar as a result of superplasticizers, all the while still upholding standard durability
requirements and strength characteristics as traditional concrete designs.
Decorative Concrete
Set Your Imagination Free
Decorative concrete takes the mechanical properties of standard concrete and
transforms it into an aesthetically innovative medium that can be customized to meet
any dcor, pattern, colour, style or any unique construction project. This transformation
of concrete into decorative concrete is achieved through the use of a variety of materials
by either integral colour mixing or after the pouring process. Common applications of
decorative concrete include driveways, pool decks, and patios.(use at poudre dor
