Opening Activity

The teacher will play video about facts and opinions for 2 minutes. Time: 5minutes
The teacher recapitulates the last lesson on adjectives by asking learners
questions, then introduces the lesson on fact and opinion. .
The teacher asks the students what they know about the terms fact and
opinion.

Learning Episode
The teacher explains the importance of facts and opinions in writing to the Time:15minutes
students.
The teacher briefly explains cases where opinions at required and facts are
necessary.
The teacher clarifies the facts and opinions and how they can be used in a text
and the importance of distinguishing them in the course of reading for better
comprehension.
The learners to analyze the five samples given to all the thirty students in pairs.
The learner identifies facts and opinions while analyzing their essays, personal
journals and lesson reflective journals from the past and consequently, the
teacher will let the learners share their answers. The teacher will give correct
answers the students after their sharing.

Learning Episode
The teacher gives details on how facts are presented in a text, like the use of Time: 10

they could find and write them down in their notes.

Materials needed for this lesson


Handout contains on:

A. Activity apple facts or opinions.

B. Two short articles of less than 100 words to be read in class.

C. A T-chart bearing examples of opinion adjectives on one side and factual adjectives on the other

side.

D. Laptop, powerpoint, pens, internet to access video, projector, and chalkboard.

Reflection/Notes to Self
* It is projected that the learners will find the lesson interesting and engage at the same time.

* The various activities should be able to help students acquire the reading skill of distinguishing between

facts and opinions, thereby being able to comprehend clearly whatever text they read.

* There is a need for the teacher to guide the learners not just giving them responses.
