COMMON PHOTOGRAPHY MISTAKES

finishing checklist
Use this checklist before finalizing any really important photos and avoid sharing photos with the world that contain the mistakes
covered in James Brandons 10 Common Photography Mistakes (and how to fix them).
Is the image exposed properly? (Check histogram)
Is the horizon straight? (If theres no visible horizon, try and find
some sort of reference line in the image to use)
Are the greens in your image under control? (Make sure they
dont look like you visited a toxic waste dump!)
Did you remove any/all chromatic aberration in the image? (Just
about every image has CA so be sure to go through the image with a
fine-tooth-comb)
Did you inspect the image for dust spots? (Be sure to zoom in to
100% and check the corners first)

Did you selectively or globally sharpen the image? (Focus/

sharpness can used to guide the viewers eye. The entire image
doesnt always need sharpening!)
Did you check for unintentional lens distortion? (If you pointing
the camera slightly up or down - be sure to check!)
Did you check your shadows for the infamous blue color cast?
(Check other parts of the image for color casts too!)
Are there any distractions? Coke cans, birds, planes, people?
(Just ask yourself, Does this add to, or take away from the image?)
Did you add a vignette? (If so, make sure it is done correctly if
your subject is off center!)
