Week 1 Lesson 1
ACTIVITY PLAN
Learning Objectives:
1) Children will be able to identify and to listen to the rhyming words based
on the poem.
2) Children will be able to answers questions after hearing the poem.
3) Children will be able to use their imagination to manipulate open-ended
materials to create an artwork on a hot air balloon.
4) Children will be able to share how they created their artwork and the
reason why they have designed or created in such a way.

Lesson Development:
Teacher will then share with children more about
rockets by showing pictures of rockets.
Teacher will then show a video on how a rocket blast
off into the sky.

After that, teacher will tell children that before a rocket
blast off into the sky, the astronauts and the people
from the control centre will countdown.
Teacher will then show children a video to reinforce
childrens learning to countdown to 20.
Teacher will then allow children to countdown together
from 20.

To facilitate childrens attention and interest, teacher
can show children a video to reinforce their learning to
countdown from 20.

Closure:
Teacher will end off the activity by count downing
from 20 with the children again.
Teacher will then reinforce childrens learning by telling
them that spaceships and rockets are also
transportations that allow astronauts and spacemen to
travel from a place to another at great speed.
Follow up:
Teacher can engage children to create a rocket art.
Teacher can also facilitate children to change the poem
words and to replace a word to create their rocket
poem.

Introductory Activity:
Teacher will start off the lesson by engaging children in
a short discussion.
Guiding question:
-How are goods imported into Singapore?
-How does food and clothing being shipped to
Singapore in big quantities?
-Have you seen a cargo ship before?
Lesson Development:
Teacher will then show children images of cargo ships
in Singapore and the shipping port in Singapore.
Teacher will explain to the children that the cargo ships
contain containers that are filled with goods from other
countries.
Teacher will also explain to the children that the cargo
ships help to transport goods to our country and for
the people.
Teacher will then facilitate children to complete the
worksheet.
Teacher will read out the sentence to the children to

Closure:
At the end of the activity, teacher can reinforce
childrens learning by allowing children to brainstorm
and think of what are the things that could be
transported into Singapore.
Teacher will then write down childrens responses on
the whiteboard or on chart papers.
Follow up:
Teacher can engage children to draw out things that
can be shipped into Singapore by providing them with
an image of a cargo container.
