Welcome to PC Hardware and O/S Architecture course at Northern Virginia Community College. This
course is a hybrid course where a significant portion of the learning activities are moved online, and time spent
in the classroom is reduced but not eliminated. The course blends in-class teaching with online learning.
This Hybrid course will meet on the dates assigned. Students will be required to build up a case study
project on telecom technologies as the hybrid section of this course.
All students will do a require research projects on material not covered in class. The
Instructor will cover main topics related to the course; students are required to study the
assigned chapter before class.
As a Hybrid course component, students will make up 21 hours with a self lecture and study that match
the ITE 221 class objectives
Course Objective
This is an introductory course that will provide an overview of computer systems
architecture. It will teach students von Newman architecture and newer technologies,
including microprocessors, data bus, control bus, and address bus, memory
management, data representation, storage devices, and functions of the operating
system.
Course Description
This course teaches the nature computer organization and architecture. A
methodological approach to understand a broad use of technologies will be attained
through lectures, self study, exercises, and review questions.

Remember, Hybrid Component and Project will be part of the Mid Term and Final examination.
Late projects will be penalized with 25% of the grade. No late projects will be accepted more
than a week late
