I.Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, students must be able to:
A. Determine the discourse used in the sample sentences
B. Note the difference between direct and indirect speech
C. Transform a direct speech into an indirect one and vice versa.
II. Subject Matter:
Topic: Direct Speech and Indirect Speech
Reference: English in New Horizon III, pages 300-301
Materials: Visual Aids, Chalk
III. Procedure:
A. Classroom Management
a.1 Prayer
a.2 Greetings
a.3 Checking of Attendance
B. Motivation
The teacher will give a comic strips and ask the students to complete
the blank bubbles.
The teacher will begin the lesson with a few examples such as:
Hanna said, I live in Paris.
Hanna said that she lived in Paris. Etc,..
The teacher will then link the examples and introduces the unit direct
and indirect Speech.
The teacher will divide the class into half and give them activity.

D. Generalization
The student will discuss the rules in changing direct speech into indirect
speech.
E. Application
The teacher will let the students to write at least three (3) direct and
indirect speech.
IV. Evaluation:
Direction: On a 1/2 crosswise, identify what speech is the sentences
below whether direct or reported speech. Then, transform the sentence
into reported speech if it is a direct speech and vice versa. (15 points)

V. Assignment:
Cut out a comic with a dialogue, paste it in a short bond paper and
transform at least 5 dialogues of the character.
