INTRODUCTION A Library is the store house of knowledge the following stream of living thoughts and educational apparatus of considerable value. This intellectual nerve centre of the school is the hub of its academic life. It is one of the most useful. The goal of the school library media centre is to ensure that all members of this school. Community has equitable access to book and reading to information, and to information technology. School library are distinct from public libraries because they serve as learner oriented laboratory which support, extend and individualize the schools curriculum. Researchers have demonstrated that school libraries have a positive impact on student achievement. More than 60 studies have been conducted in 19 U.S. states and one Canadian province. The major finding of these studies is that student with access to well supported school library media program with a qualified school library media specialist, scored higher on reading assessment regardless of their socio- economic statuses.

Organization of school library A well- equipped library under the charge of teacher should be set up in the school. The teacher can equip the library depending on the availability of funds and accommodation facilities for the purpose. The teacher ha s to be very thoroughly acquainted with the latest and good books available in the subject. There should be provision for coverage of topics physics, chemistry, biology, geology, environment, ecology, pollution etc...

School librarians may read to children, assist them in selecting books, and assist with school work. In the instructional partner role, school librarians collaborate with classroom teachers to create independent learners by fostering students research, information literacy, technology, and critical thinking skills. As information specialists, school librarians develop a resource base for the school by using the curriculum and student interest to identify and obtain library material, organize and maintain the library collection in order to promote independent reading and lifelong learning.

The non-conventional reference material consist of all others library books that may be employed for service any other kind. Periodicals Some books periodicals and magazines which throw light on current research findings should be available in the library. News papers It is essential that the teacher and pupil and keep well informal of the development that a place in the field of science all most every day. A local news papers and one or two other details of all-India circulation need to provide Utilization of school library resource It is necessary that pupils are taught techniques of locating relevant reference and resource material in the library within the least time possible. Assignment should be given in the form of problems. Library certainly helps in enriching knowledge and in developing interest, attitude value system competency and related skills. The library today is concentrated to be the intellectual laboratory of the school. They need to be supported supplemented and reinforced by other source of information.
