Dear Delegates, Faculty Advisors, Partners and Organizers,

It has been over 56 years since the inception of the United Nations, this global
organization has benefitted each and every one of its member nations in ways more
than one. The decrease in fissiparous tendencies definitely being the crowning jewel.
However, with the turn of the 21st century, the emphasis is strongly on building one
global village. It is to this end, that Model United Nations have come into existence.
Indeed after 8 years of MUNning, I have come to realize that with over 2000 such
simulations taking place across the globe annually, the younger generation is fast
grasping the nuances of international relations and politics, though not fully. It is with
this in mind that I started my company Aufklaren Events LLP to bridge the gap amongst
different races.

However, the one prominent thing that is absent is that the voice of the youth is
not reaching the concerned authorities. So for the first time ever in any Model United
Nations, the resolutions that will be passed shall be forwarded to the exact committees
that you will be role-playing. IIMUN Pune will be the first city chapter of IIMUN which
was Indias Largest MUN in its first year itself.

What else is it that makes this conference special? This will be the LARGEST
conference in Pune with over 300 + delegates and 5 committees. Whats unique about
this conference is that the best three schools at IIMUN Pune will get direct entries into
the mega IIMUN conference in Mumbai which will be Asias Largest Youth Conference
where participation is by invite only.

Hoping to see you soon.

Regards,

Rishabh Shah
(Founder and President, Indian International MUN)

I.I.M.U.N 2012
In the inaugural session of the conference 15 UN bodies as well as the Lok sabha were
simulated and we are glad to say that all the resolutions passed reached the concerned
authorities. With 1,078 delegates from across 16 cities, this session was a true
representation of the leaders of tomorrow. Added to this the fact that the entire event
was run and managed by a workforce of 150 individuals all whom were below the age of
20 is indeed a reflection that young people achieve what they believe in. Many eminent
personalities graced the days of this mega educational event. Some of whom are listed
below.

This year we hope to make a bigger difference and scale new heights with your support.
Achievements of I.I.M.U.N:
The only Indian team to be invited to the United Nations General Assembly for a
Model United Nations Workshop in August 2012.
The procedure has been accepted in over 62 Institutes across the globe.
Simulations of IIMUN in AIMUN (African International Model United Nations) and
BIMUN (Bangladesh International Model United Nations).
Asias first MUNing procedure.
First MUN to have sponsored unprivileged schools to be a part of a conference.

I.I.M.U.N. - The Difference:

DIRECT Affiliation with the United Nations: The most prominent thing that is absent is
that the voice of the youth is not reaching the concerned authorities. So for the first time
ever in any Model United Nations, the resolutions that will be passed shall be forwarded
to the exact committees that the students will be role-playing.

Magnitude: This will be the LARGEST conference in ASIA with 30 committees and over
3000 delegates from ALL ACROSS THE GLOBE.

I.I.M.U.N. Affiliations: This will be first ever conference in the continent to give out
affiliations to other Model United Nations and help spread the culture of MUNning in
regions where it is not very prominent. Till now we have touched upon 62 educational
institutes.

Host University Concept: I.I.M.U.N. is the first MUN in the world, to have tied up with
universities in various cities in India and countries around the world. Every nation that we
get our delegates from, would be having a prominent university called the Host
University which help I.I.M.U.N. reach out to as many students as possible

Worlds THIRD MUNning Procedure: After the HMUN & THIMUN procedures, IIMUN
would have the worlds 3rd MUNning procedure

Panel Discussion: When the whos who of India come together to discuss topics like
the Involvement of youth in shaping Indias future, it surely isnt an opportunity any
student would want to miss. It is this special addition to the IIMUN which would take the
level of discussion and debate notches higher.

IIMUN Pune Committees
The following committees of the United Nations will be simulated at the conference :
Security Council
The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) is one of the principal organs of the United
Nations and is charged with the maintenance of international peace and security. Its powers,
outlined in the United Nations Charter, include the establishment of peacekeeping operations, the
establishment of international sanctions, and the authorization of military action.
Human Rights Council
The United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) is an inter-governmental body within the
United Nations System. The UNHRC is the successor to the United Nations Commission on
Human Rights (UNCHR, herein CHR), and is a subsidiary body of the United Nations General
Assembly. It has the ability to discuss all thematic human rights issues and situations that require
its attention throughout the year. It meets at the UN Office at Geneva. The Council is made up of
47 United Nations Member States which are elected by the UN General Assembly.
Economic and Social Council
The Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) assists the General Assembly in promoting
international economic and social cooperation and development. ECOSOC has 54 members, all
of which are elected by the General Assembly for a three-year term. Viewed separate from the
specialized bodies it coordinates, ECOSOC's functions include information gathering, advising
member nations, and making recommendations. In addition, ECOSOC is well-positioned to
provide policy coherence and coordinate the overlapping functions of the UNs subsidiary bodies
and it is in these roles that it is most active.
Disarmament and International Security Committee
Devoted to the establishment and maintenance of international peace and security, the
Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC) of the United Nations (UN) focuses
on the topics of arms control, pacifistic conflict resolution, and global safety. As a General
Assembly (GA) Mains Committee, DISEC is inclusive of all UN Member States, serving as a large
forum for discussion on all topics regarding international security. Each member has one vote.
Special, Political and Decolonization Committee
The Special Political and Decolonization Committee is one of six committees of the United
Nations General Assembly. It deals with decolonization, Palestinian refugees and human rights,
peacekeeping, mine action, outer space, public information, atomic radiation and the University
for Peace.
