Wright Brothers Invent the Airplane
About one hundred years ago the planet earth was a much smaller place. On December 17, 1903 the Wright brothers, Wilbur and Orville, made history when they took off in flight and invented the first airplane. This is how the planet earth began shrinking geographically making it easier and quicker to travel over long distances.
The two brothers namely Orville Wright (18711948), and Wilbur Wright (1867-1912) were the first to successfully man who fly an airplane Wilbur and Orville Wright , printers and bicycle builders from Dayton, Ohio, took their first serious step toward the invention of the airplane in 1899. They were superb, self-
trained engineers who developed an extraordinarily successful research strategy that enabled them to overcome one set of challenging problems after another, the full extent of which previous experimenters had not even suspected.
On December 17, 1903, Orville Wright piloted the first powered airplane 20 feet above a wind-swept beach in North Carolina. The flight lasted 12 seconds and covered 120 feet. Three more flights were made that day with Wilbur piloting the record flight lasting 59 seconds over a distance of 852 feet. the wright brothers going on and making more inventions
