Teleconferencing Overview and Benefits

Teleconferencing began in the 1960s with AT&T's Picturephone and allows geographically separated parties to communicate via audio and/or video through telecommunications networks. It includes audio conferencing, web conferencing, and videoconferencing. Web conferencing allows sharing of text, video, and documents online while videoconferencing enables visual communication. Teleconferencing reduces costs compared to travel and helps include more participants to generate more ideas. However, it faces drawbacks like ethical issues regarding confidentiality and legal services as well as high initial costs for equipment and online practices.
