Lesson Content
What Standards (national
or state) relate to this
lesson?
(You should include ALL
applicable standards. Rarely
do teachers use just one:
theyd never get through
them all.)
Essential Understanding
(What is the big idea or essential question
that you want students to come away
with? In other words, what, aside from the
standard and our objective, will students
understand when they finish this lesson?)
Objectives- What are you teaching?
(Student-centered: What will students
know and be able to do after this lesson?
Include the ABCDs of objectives: action,
behavior, condition, and degree of
mastery, i.e., "C: Given a sentence
written in the past or present tense, A:
the student B: will be able to re-write the
sentence in future tense D: with no errors
in tense or tense contradiction (i.e., I will
see her yesterday.)."
Note: Degree of mastery does not need
to be a percentage.)
Students will understand how to read a question and find it in the text to prove
their answers.
Given the worksheets, the student, will be able to answer the questions correctly, with no
errors.
E- Student understands assignment fully. Students will be able to answer 6 questions
correctly.
S- Students understands, but not completely. Students will be able to answer 3-4
questions correctly.
N- Students needs help. SWBAT answer 1-2 questions correctly.
U- Student did not try. SWBAT answer 0 questions correctly.
Rationale
I am teaching this objective to help students understand that the text is an important tool
to use to find answers to questions.
Students have been using texts to find their answers, or texts to write details in stories for
a few lessons.
I am teaching it this way so students are able to hear the text read aloud, and the work
independently to find their answers in the text and prove their answers.
This is important for students to learn because they will then be able to use any text to
take details and important information out of to better understand it.

Formative:
Teacher will be listening and watching students during turn and talks.
Teacher will be walking around the classroom as students work on their worksheets.
Summative:
- Teacher will collect their worksheets to see how well they are understanding the lesson.
This topic has been taught in the last few lessons. Students are aware of what they
should do, and have the abilities to be able to find text evidence. My learners are
18 second graders.
Students might not understand to find the answers in the text, and use the text to
help.
Students can try to use background knowledge, or their opinions when answering
questions.

they supporting students
learning?
