Mike McDaniels mic’d up shows he’s the NFL’s goofiest trash talker

This is too good.

James Dator has been covering a wide range of sports for SB Nation for over a decade, with a special focus on the NFL.

Mike McDaniels is one of the NFL’s most unique coaches, and he trash talks in a very different way too. Last week the Dolphins and Raiders faced off, which provided a chance for a direct head-to-head between Vegas LB Tommy Eichenberg, and his brother Miami RG Liam Eichenberg.

McDaniels made sure to use this sibling rivalry as a way to get inside Tommy’s head.

Obviously McDaniels is being very tongue-in-cheek here. It’s like watching a total nerd dream up the sickest burn he can think of. Easily the best part is watching the Dolphins coach run immediately to his player to tell him what he said, so proud of his mockery.

It’s stuff like this that makes McDaniels and one-of-one. He’s absolutely happy to be weird and awkward, knowing full well he’s a weird and awkward dude. It resonates with his players and ingratiates him to them, while somehow managing to both be self-deprecating and keep his team on task.

Truth be told, if this is one in a long line of McDaniels mockery then I need a supercut at the end of the season because this is the content I crave.
