Thursday, Nov. 28 will mark the 10th anniversary of a favorite Thanksgiving morning tradition, the Encinitas Turkey Trot. The event offers fun for the whole family with 5K and 10K race options, starting under the world-famous “Encinitas” sign on Coast Highway 101 with beautiful ocean views along the course. Creative costumes are always encouraged and prizes will be awarded for individual and group costumes.The 10K starts at 7:30 a.m. and the 5K at 8 a.m. on Thanksgiving morning. Proceeds from race registration will support veterans through the nonprofit organization VANC. For over 17 years VANC actively supports service personnel and their families to help them navigate life during and after service. North Coast Rep to feature “Incident at Our Lady of Perpetual Help”
North Coast Repertory Theatre presents the San Diego premiere of “Incident at Our Lady of Perpetual Help,” directed by Jenny Sullivan and written by Katie Forgette. The show runs Oct. 23-Nov. 24. Harvest for HOPE fundraiser
Operation HOPE-North County will put on its Harvest for HOPE event to celebrate its alumni success stories from 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 4 at The Farm at Leichtag Commons, 441 Saxony Road, Encinitas. The nonprofit helps community members who have been homeless rebuild their lives. The event will feature a gallery walk showing the stories of alumni whose lives have been transformed by the nonprofit’s programs. Music will feature Brazilian jazz singer Caro Pierotto, whose music celebrates the resilience of people around the world. Batiquitos Lagoon to host presentation in honor of Native American Heritage Month
Batiquitos Lagoon will hold a presentation on Nov. 9 at 10 a.m. In honor of Native American Heritage Month, guest speakers Laurie Gonzalez and Mavany Calac Verdugo of the Rincon Band of Luiseno Indians will share how inhabitants of this area lived in centuries past, and how they continue to thrive today. Oceanside High School Foundation fundraiser at Best Pizza and Brew
The Oceanside High School (OHS) Foundation will hold a fundraiser at Best Pizza and Brew, 1639 S. Coast Highway, Oceanside on Tuesday, Nov. 5 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. A percentage of sales will be donated by Best Pizza and Brew to the Foundation for scholarships and faculty classroom grants. Pizza lovers just need to tell the cashier that they are there for the OHS Foundation fundraiser at time of ordering.
Old Globe to present Dr. Seuss’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas!
The Old Globe recently announced the full cast and creative team for its 27th annual production of Dr. Seuss’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas! Salute to Paws 5K and festival
Locally based nonprofit Shelter to Soldier will put on its inaugural Salute to Paws 5K and Gratitude Festival for Dogs starting at 7:30 a.m. Nov. 16 at Naval Training Center Park in Liberty Station, 2455 Cushing Road. Proceeds go to the nonprofit, which rescues dogs from local shelters and trains them to become service animals for post-9/11 veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, among other injuries. Registration opens at 7:30 a.m., followed by yoga flow at 8 a.m., the 5K at 9 a.m. and the Gratitude Festival for Dogs with live music, beer and mimosa garden, pet vendors and “Rescue Row” with pet adoptions. La bohème from San Diego Opera

Poway Symphony Orchestra to open 2024-2025 Concert Season with famed Romeros Guitar Quartet
The Poway Symphony Orchestra will open its 21st concert season with “A Trip to Spain with The Romeros,” presenting a program of lively Spanish-inspired music and featuring the world-renowned Romeros guitar quartet. The concert will take place on Sunday, Nov. 17, at 4 p.m. at the Poway Center for Performing Arts.The Romeros will be joining the Poway Symphony Orchestra in a performance of Joaquín Rodrigo’s Concierto Andaluz for four guitars and orchestra. A celebration of American music to benefit North Coast Repertory Theatre will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 10 at 2 p.m. at North Coast Repertory Theatre.
