Nine of the country's 14 seats in the European Parliament have yet to be filled as counting of votes in the Ireland South and Midlands North-West constituencies continues this evening.
Four days into the count process and the final outcome of last Friday’s election is still not clear. In Ireland South, Fine Gael's Sean Kelly is the only candidate to be elected.
Ten candidates remain in the race to fill the five seats in the Midlands North-West constituency.
After the 15th count, Independent Luke 'Ming' Flanagan maintains a lead of almost 15,000 votes over his nearest challenger - Fine Gael candidate Nina Carberry, but is still 18,011 votes from the quota.
No candidate has been elected so far.
The distribution of the votes of independent candidate Peter Casey saw significant gains for Mr Flanagan and Ciaran Mullooly of Independent Ireland.
That means Mr Mullooly has extended his lead for the fifth and final seat.
Aontú's Peadar Tóibín is more than 15,000 votes behind him, with Sinn Féin’s Michelle Gildernew, a further 2,000 votes back.
Attention is focusing on whether she can bridge the gap as the count progresses.
Fine Gael’s Maria Walsh and Ms Carberry, along with Fianna Fáil’s Barry Cowen, remain bunched together in second to fourth place at present.
Independent candidate Saoirse McHugh has been excluded and her 31,519 votes are the next to be distributed by count staff.
