Colin Farrell and Andrew Scott are vying against each other at tonight's Golden Globe Awards in Beverly Hills, California.

Both Dublin-born actors are nominated in the Best Performance by an Actor in a Limited Series, Anthology Series, or a Motion Picture Made for Television category, Farrell for his role in The Penguin and Scott for his role in Ripley.

Paul Mescal (Gladiator II) and Saoirse Ronan (Blitz, The Outrun) missed out on nominations in the film acting categories for this year's awards, which are seen as a good indication of how the Oscars will play out in March.

Despite its success at the British Independent Film Awards in December and a slew of Bafta longlist nods last week, the music biopic Kneecap also failed to be nominated in the Best Motion Picture - Non-English Language category.

The awards will take place tonight at the Beverly Hilton in LA. The winners are chosen by 334 entertainment journalists from 85 countries.

RTÉ Entertainment will have full overnight coverage of the awards.

Also at this year’s Golden Globes, Emilia Pérez - which is about a Mexican drug lord who changes gender - has 10 nominations and Ariana Grande landed her first Golden Globe nod.

The actress and singer is nominated for Best Supporting Female Actor in a Motion Picture - Comedy or Musical for her role as Glinda in the film version of the hit Broadway and West End musical Wicked and she will compete against Selena Gomez and her co-star Zoe Saldana for Emilia Pérez.

The Brutalist, starring Oscar-winner Adrien Brody as a Hungarian Jewish architect who survives the Holocaust and emigrates to the United States, is up for seven awards, followed by papal drama Conclave with six nods.
