New Nigerian Irish artist Omas has released his new single, Be The Woman. We asked him the BIG questions . . .

Speaking about his new song, Omas says, "Be The Woman is a song that inspires partners in relationships to have each other's back and be there for one another."
Born in Nigeria and now based in Ireland, Omas has been involved in music from an early age, refining his skills through his experience in choirs, a boy band, and as a backing vocalist.
Tell us three things about yourself . . .
Okay, so first let me say I was born in Nigeria where I lived throughout my teens before moving here to Ireland. Second is that outside of music, I love boxing and political news so much; I could chat about both without getting tired. Also, I have a master’s degree in psychology which has really helped me with the perspectives I hold about the meaning of life and which by extension has a huge influence on my lyrical style.
How would you describe your music?
My exposure to music at an early age centred around African American gospel music and singers, and this had a huge impact on how I patterned my own music. So, when you listen to my songs you tend to find that it's a fusion of Soul, RnB and of course Pop.
Who are your musical inspirations?
When I was younger, Whitney Houston had a huge impact on my idea of music and singing and she still does. In more recent times Adele has also been an inspiration to me. She has a way of talking about life in her songs that one can't ignore.
What was the first gig you ever went to?
Well, it was a college campus gig where a famous Nigerian artist by the name Tuface was performing. Although while growing up, I attended a church where music and choir performances were a big part and so they were usually like your regular gigs for me. But going to the event where Tuface was performing was something different from what I was used to.
What was the first record you ever bought?
My first album was Evolution by Boys II Men. I used to be in a boy band years ago when RnB was the thing, and so we would always do songs by Boyz II Men in small venues.
What’s your favourite song right now?
Right now, I can't stop listening to my new song titled Be The Woman. So, I would say right now it is my favourite song.
Favourite lyric of all time?
Well, I wouldn't say I have one in particular because there are so many good lyrics that I really appreciate. But When You Believe by Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston and Hello by Adele always get to me.
If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Well, that will be Forever by Omas lol. Maybe it's because it is my song and the inspiration from the song means so much to me, but yes I could listen to Forever forever lol.
