FREDERICKTOWN: Pat always emitted a vibrant and kindhearted light. A beam of positive energy, she was deeply devoted to experiencing the gift of life to its fullest, and leaving warmth behind everywhere she went. Pat passed away unexpectedly on April 17, 2024, however her light still shines on her friends, family, and community.

Born in Mansfield on November 18, 1948 to James William Berger and Betty Jo (Williams) Berger, Pat spent her childhood in Butler. She cherished summers spent on lakeshores in Michigan, and never lost her passion for time outdoors. She graduated in 1966 from Clear Fork High School before taking courses in cosmetology, where she learned the craft of wig making and styling. In 1969, she wed her late husband Gene. Together, they moved to Michigan. They found their way home to Ohio after thirty years up north, where they built their dream house on the family farm. Between busy family moments, she found her way into a career in education. Her love for children and dedication to her community were actualized in her success as an administrator. She remained involved in the local school district, always attending sporting events for her beloved children. She never wanted to miss out on a moment of joy or triumph.

Always in motion, Pat was active in enjoying her passions and reveling in the love she had for her family. She enjoyed playing cards, going to wine tastings, and spending time in the garden. She loved to watch living things grow and thrive—including flowers in her garden and loved ones. Nothing brought her more joy than sitting on the bank of her pond watching the children catch fish in the sunshine.

Pat will be remembered for her compassionate and caring nature, always more concerned about the wellbeing of others than herself. Her positive energy radiates through all those fortunate enough to love and be loved by her. She leaves basking in her light a close-knit family, including sons Derek (Lynneah) Fletcher and Dan Fletcher; grandchildren Jada, Henry, and Watson; brother Ron (Jeanne) Berger; nieces and nephews Jason (Erin) Berger and Shanna (Hughie) Dobbins; great-nieces and nephews Mattie, Colin, Chloe, and Kaylee; and her special friend Greg Williams. She was preceded in death by parents James Berger and Betty Myers Hammond; husband Eugene Fletcher; and brother-in-law Denny Fletcher.

The family will gather for a private graveside service at Bellville Cemetery to celebrate and remember the luminous life of Pat. Care of Pat’s family and her funeral arrangements are entrusted to Snyder Funeral Homes, Bellville Butler Chapel.
