Hunter Greene starts for the Reds in their season finale in Chicago

Hooray, offseason!

Another abject disaster of a season comes to a close today for the Cincinnati Reds, who will once again miss the playoffs with a sub-.500 record.

One of the very few bright spots of the Reds this season was the continued emergence of Hunter Greene who, aside from an unfortunate injury stint, has firmly established himself as one of the best young arms in all of baseball. The Reds, we can now say, have an ace on their hands.

Greene will toe the rubber today in the team’s season finale at Wrigley Field hoping to shut down the Chicago Cubs and add to his resume for upcoming Cy Young Award voting. He’ll absolutely warrant some down-ballot marks there, and this gives him one more chance to add to said reputation.

First pitch is set for 3:20 PM ET and will be thrown by Cubs starter Caleb Kilian, who I have legitimately never heard of before in my life.

Go Reds. Win one for the Gapper.
