One of the earliest surprise gems of 2024, The Lost Crown adapted the Prince of Persia franchise into a gorgeous 2D Metroidvania. The Deluxe Edition includes a digital adventure guide and some in-game cosmetic items.
Blasphemous 2
A more macabre Metroidvania for the valiant at heart. Blasphemous 2 is heavy on the religious imagery and more than little horror mixed in.
Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope Gold Edition
It’s truly wild that Ubisoft not only made a Mario-themed tactics game inspired by XCOM but did it twice. Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope has deep, rewarding mechanics and a surprisingly charming story. The Gold Edition includes three DLC packs and some additional story content.
Tetris Effect: Connected
Quite possibly the best version of Tetris to ever exist. Tetris Effect is Tetsuya Mizuguchi’s love letter to the puzzle game augmenting the puzzler with trippy visuals and soundscapes in line with his other work, notably Rez and Lumines. If there were a version of Tetris to own, it’s this one right here.
Hotline Miami Collection
A pair of top-down shooters with a high bodycount and a heavy dose of pixelated blood, this collection includes both Hotline Miami and its sequel Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number.
Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga
The best part of the Lego Star Wars games is in its comical twists on the mainline games—a devilish sense of humor and playfulness with the source material. The Skywalker Saga lets you replay all three trilogies in whichever order you prefer and features more than 300 playable characters in all. It also features couch co-op so you can learn the ways of the Force with a friend!
Darkest Dungeon: Ancestral Edition
When you first pick up Darkest Dungeon, you will be very precious with every character you play. One by one, however, they will start succumbing to madness, death, and all kinds of not-great endings that will have you shifting around your heroes like it was a fantasy football team. The Ancestral Edition includes the base game and DLC.
