Thirteen veterans stood to receive Quilts of Valor at the Chester County Veterans Day observance on Nov. 11. As the ceremony ended, they wore their Quilts proudly and humbly. Five of those veterans wore theirs not only for their own service, but also in remembrance of a classmate and friend.
Veterans James “Lenny†Crawford, Wade “Hamp†McManus Jr., Paul McFadden, Robert Boyd McCrorey and Walter “Doug†Wall Jr. accepted their Quilt as a way to honor and pay tribute to their classmate friend and fallen Marine, Lindsay Turner, who was killed in Vietnam in 1969. (See related story).
