With the burst of colorful leaves and crisp air, fall is one of the best times to roll down your car window and take a spin, just for fun.
And a city in Pennsylvania is purportedly among the top five best for scenic fall drives in the United States.
According to a study published last month by American Muscle, Lancaster is the fifth best place to take a leisurely drive during the autumnal season.
Lancaster, though, was by no means the only location in the Keystone State to make it onto the list: Gettysburg was ranked 24th overall and Jim Thorpe, 31st.
This isn’t the first time Pennsylvania’s cities have been recognized for being great spots to get into the fall mood. A separate study crowned Pittsburgh as the third best to experience fall in general. On the spookier side of things, Pennsylvania is supposedly home to one of the most haunted locations in the world, too.
Rounding out the top five cities were: Burlington, Vt. in fourth; Asheville, N.C., in third; Portland, Maine, in second; and Chattanooga, Tenn., in first.
American Muscle found these cities after grading 50 on the following metrics: “Fall foliage duration;” “Average gas prices;” and “Search volume” with regards to “fall foliage” in a specific area.
“As the leaves start to change and the air gets crisp, there’s no better time to take your car out for a spin and enjoy the fall scenery,” reads the study.
The study adds: “Whether you’re cruising through vibrant reds and oranges of the Northeast or winding through the scenic routes of the South, these cities offer the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable drive.”
