Biofy strengthens genetic analysis with OCI Generative AI
The biotech startup uses OCI Generative AI to fight antibiotic resistance and recommend faster, more accurate life-saving diagnoses.
“We consider Oracle a true partner by providing local technical support to help us optimize OCI’s fully managed generative AI and open source database services for advanced DNA sequencing with better performance and cost-efficiency. With OCI, we have the scalability to democratize the analysis for hospitals and labs worldwide.”
Biofy combines biotech and AI to analyze genetic data and offer personalized therapies for patients. The company tackles the growing problem of antibiotic resistance, which is often misdiagnosed or not treated properly due to the slow identification process of intensive data analysis. That process can take 5 days and lead to fatal bacterial infection. Biofy developed a recommendation platform to sequence a patient’s DNA using OCI Generative AI and compute instances for personalized analysis. Also, OCI’s PostgreSQL Database stores large data sets, while OCI Cache expedites the analysis process. With OCI, Biofy reduced the time to diagnose antibiotic resistance from 5 days to less than 4 hours. The company gained 50% better performance at one-third to one-half the cost that other cloud providers would charge.
