It’s Official: Okta Joins Forces With Auth0

At Okta, we’ve spent the past 12+ years focused on transforming cloud-based identity and empowering everyone to safely use any technology. Today marks a significant milestone for our team and acceleration of our journey: Okta and Auth0 are now one team. We’ve successfully completed the acquisition. I’ve long admired the impressive platform and developer community Auth0 co-founders Eugenio Pace and Matias Woloski have built and I couldn’t be more excited for our teams to join forces. With our combined developer and enterprise expertise, Okta and Auth0 will shape the future of identity on the internet.

Harnessing the power of developers

Just like Eugenio, I started my career as a software engineer, and over the years I’ve seen product builders become more important than ever. They’re building every experience on the internet and are driving innovation at organisations large and small — and they’re expected to do this all while ensuring everything is safe and secure. These application teams are both the most important asset in a company’s technology strategy and the most over-stretched. What’s more, the global product builder talent shortage shows no sign of slowing. That’s why we’ve been intentional at Okta about making developers’ lives easier so they can build what matters to their core missions while leaving the identity to us.

Product builders are key in building the next generation of customer experiences, and Auth0 has always been squarely focused on developers’ needs and requirements. Auth0’s DNA is rooted in enabling application teams with identity — Eugenio and Matias literally wrote the book on developer identity for Microsoft — and their focus has since remained on enabling product builders to innovate. It’s always been clear that developers go farther and faster with Auth0.

I’m thrilled that our two teams are coming together. Not only will Auth0’s deep expertise in developer identity help us address identity from every angle, but we also share a similar vision for the identity market overall and believe that identity is the most critical primary cloud organisations rely on. Together, we believe we can achieve our goals more quickly and address a broad set of identity use cases for our customers.

Operationally, the Auth0 team will be Okta’s first independent business unit. Eugenio will report directly to me and we’re excited to invest in both platforms and integrate them over time. For now, we’re focused on delivering greater flexibility, choice, and value to our customers.
