Compliance Guidance
Since 1998, OIG has been issuing voluntary Compliance Program Guidance documents (CPGs) directed at various segments of the health care industry. OIG is presently engaged in improving and updating existing CPGs and delivering new CPGs specific to segments of the health care industry or entities involved in the health care industry that have emerged in recent years. In modernizing our CPGs, OIG’s goal is to produce useful, informative resources—as timely as possible—to help advance the industry’s voluntary compliance efforts in preventing fraud, waste, and abuse in the health care system.
At the center of this CPG modernization effort is OIG’s General Compliance Program Guidance (GCPG), a reference guide for the health care compliance community and other health care stakeholders. The GCPG provides information about relevant Federal laws, compliance program infrastructure, OIG resources, and other information useful to understanding health care compliance. OIG’s industry segment-specific CPGs (ICPGs) complement the GCPG with information of specific interest to various segments of the health care industry.
If you would like to share information or suggestions regarding what should be included in the ICPG for any health care industry segment, or have suggestions for additional ICPGs, then please send your written comments or suggestions directly to [email protected].
OIG’s existing CPGs and supplemental CPGs will remain available for use as an ongoing resource as we develop and publish the new guidance, and can be found in the archive below.
