Gaza crossings: movement of people and goods

Restrictions on the movement of people and goods to and from Gaza have undermined the living conditions of Gaza's residents for years. Many restrictions, originally imposed in the early 1990s, were intensified in June 2007, following the Hamas takeover of Gaza and the imposition of a blockade by Israel. After a gradual ease, they intensified again with the escalation of hostilities in October 2023.

Following are two sets of charts that illustrate, interactively, the movement of people and goods through the Gaza entry and exit points with Israel and Egypt as well as at the shore over time. The first set covers data from October 2023 and on, whereas the second features data from before that time.

ⓘ Please pay close attention to the notes and caveats further down this landing page and within the charts.

Incoming supplies starting 7 October 2023

The following chart tracks the data available to the UN on the volume of incoming supplies once they have been loaded on the Palestinian side of any of the entry points and brought into a warehouse or otherwise made available to agencies and people in need across Gaza. While humanitarian cargo is included for the full period, commercial cargo is only shown for periods when that data is available, namely between late October 2023 and early May 2024.

Please note that the following charts are arranged in two tabs.

Please note:

  1. Safety and security concerns, alongside delays and denials in approving movement inside Gaza, prevent UN staff from maintaining constant presence at entry points. This undermines our ability to track data on goods handled by some international non-governmental organizations, the Red Cross / Red Crescent and the commercial sector.
  2. Data is constantly verified and updated, including when updates are received retrospectively.
  3. Supplies that are scanned and offloaded at an entry point but not yet collected are not shown here. This ensures an accurate reflection of supplies that have been collected and dispatched within the Gaza Strip only.
  4. Data from the private sector is incomplete mostly because, since 7 May 2024, the UN has been unable to be continuously present at the relevant entry points.

Movement of people and goods before 7 October 2023

Please note that the following charts are arranged in four tabs. The data includes both humanitarian and commercial supplies for the full period.
