Welcome to Women in Norton Rose Fulbright (US)
Women in Norton Rose Fulbright (WiN) Council is comprised of women from our US offices. We are dedicated to building and maintaining an accessible, dynamic and inspirational women’s network, providing opportunities to make contacts globally and access to role models, mentors and sponsors at all levels.
Leadership
The WiN Council co-chairs are Purvi Maniar (St. Louis and New York) and Andrea D'Ambra (New York). The vice chair is Katie Connolly (San Francisco).
Our objectives
- Increase awareness of women’s issues among non-women
- Identify challenges to retention and promotion of women lawyers at the firm and recommend and implement strategies and changes designed to eliminate those barriers and increase retention and promotion of women
- Increase awareness within the firm of intersectionality issues
- Provide a powerful marketing opportunity for the benefit and use of all within Norton Rose Fulbright
Initiatives and activities
Our initiatives and activities focus on promoting our mission and objectives in several key areas, including:
Social and professional development
- Holding regular meetings to create opportunities for women lawyers and business services professionals to build relationships and discuss issues of importance to women in the firm
- Partnering with professional organizations that advance women to provide networking opportunities
- Building connections for women lawyers across offices and practice teams where women are under-represented through our virtual “coffee breaks” program
Retention and advancement
- Identifying retention and advancement challenges faced by women and recommending policies to assist the firm in meeting our goal of 40:40:20 (a minimum of 40 percent women and 40 percent men, with 20 percent flexibility) in the overall partnership, management committees and leadership roles (including client relationship partners and business services leaders), partner promotions, external partner candidates and senior business services hires
- Fostering an environment conducive to open and honest dialogue on concerns of women
- Focusing on mental health resources and the consequences of burnout
Intersectionality
- Promoting and engaging in the firm’s Global Charitable Initiative
- Co-sponsoring events and initiatives with the Racial Equity Council, Multicultural Equity Council, PRIDE and Flex networks
- Recognizing that parenting and care-giving is a concern for persons of all genders
Business development
- Participating in and sponsoring initiatives and activities for women’s legal and community organizations
- Promoting events organized by women lawyer and for women lawyers
- Engaging with women clients, and engaging with clients of all genders on the advancement of women in the legal profession
