Rachel Zegler slammed by pro-Trump commentators after election comments: “Hello, Disney, you’re going to have to redo your film”

“I’m sorry, Disney, she has to go right now”

Pro-Donald Trump commentators have criticised Rachel Zegler after the actress’ comments about the president-elect and his supporters following his election victory last week.

Zelger took to her Instagram Stories to criticise Trump himself, as well as those who supported and voted for him.

“May Trump supporters and Trump voters and Trump himself never know peace,” she wrote, paraphrasing Ethel Cain’s recent comments, and adding: “Another four years of hatred, leaning us towards a world I do not want to live in. Leaning us towards a world that will be hard to raise my daughter in.”

Her comments have proved controversial and pro-Trump commentator Megyn Kelly brought them up during an appearance on the Ruthless podcast yesterday (November 14), referencing Zegler’s role in Disney’s upcoming live-action Snow White movie, in which she plays the titular character.

Kelly said: “There’s something wrong with this person. Hello, Disney, you’re going to have to redo your film again because this woman is a pig and you fired Gina Carano for far less than this nonsense. I’m sorry, Disney, she has to go right now.”

She added: “You’re going to put out a Disney film with Snow White, a beloved American character, with a woman who hates more than half the country, the half that just elected Donald Trump? This is an incredible pivot point right now. We’ll see which way the woke Disney decides to go.”

Kelly’s mention of Carano was a reference to her being dropped by Lucasfilm, owned by Disney. The company explained, via Deadline, “Carano’s social-media usage sunk to its nadir on February 10, 2021. On that day, she reposted an Instagram post from user warriorpriestgympodcast. The post read: ‘Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbours…even by children. Because history is edited, most people today don’t realise that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbours hate them simply for being Jews. How is that any different from hating someone for their political views?”

Carano launched a lawsuit against Disney, and after a Los Angeles judge denied the company’s motion to dismiss it, she described herself as being “moved to tears.”

Also yesterday, Zegler apologised for her previous comments, writing on her Instagram stories: “I let my emotions get the best of me. Hatred and anger have caused us to move further and further away from peace and understanding, and I am sorry I contributed to the negative discourse.”

Meanwhile, the Snow White trailer was released in August and received a huge number of dislikes on YouTube, some criticising the decision to make the characters of the seven dwarfs CGI-animated with others taking aim at Zegler’s costume.
