N.J. teen downloaded 1,751 child porn images, prosecutor says

A Bergen County teenager was arrested Friday and charged with downloading thousands of child sexual abuse images, authorities said.

The 17-year-old was identified as a target of a child pornography investigation on Aug. 12 by members of the county’s Cyber Crimes Unit, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said in a statement.

The months-long investigation involved a court-authorized search of the teen’s electronic device, revealing the teen “viewed, saved, downloaded, and/or possessed 1,751 items depicting nude and/or sexually explicit prepubescent and pubescent children,” the statement said.

The teen was taken into protective custody in Paramus on Friday and charged with second-degree possession of child pornography. He was released pending a hearing in Family Court, the prosecutor said.
