A group of MPs have submitted a proposal mandating government employees to clearly identify themselves by name and job title when answering calls.

The proposal, put forward by MPs Basma Mubarak, Mamdooh Al Saleh, Jalia Al Sayed, Dr Hesham Al Asheri, and Ali Al Doseri, aims to improve citizen services and enhance government efficiency.

According to the explanatory memorandum accompanying the proposal, the initiative seeks to align with the government’s stated goals of increasing service efficiency and improving communication between government agencies and citizens.

The MPs argue that this measure will facilitate accurate performance evaluations of employees.

The memorandum further highlights the proposal’s potential to foster internal competition within government bodies to provide better services.

By making employee names publicly known when answering calls, the proposal aims to improve accountability and enable more precise performance assessments, simplifying future follow-up procedures.

The MPs believe this will ultimately lead to a more responsive and efficient government service.
