Bahrain holding talks with Iran to restore diplomatic ties

The Foreign Ministry has informed Parliament that Bahrain is actively coordinating with Iran to restore diplomatic relations, working on the legal groundwork needed for the process.

The ministry added that recent exchanges between officials from both sides have helped lay the foundation for talks aimed at rebuilding ties.

In its response to a question from MP Mamdouh Abbas Al Saleh, the ministry outlined Bahrain’s balanced approach to foreign policy, which centres on protecting its sovereignty and independence, advancing its interests, and strengthening its standing in the region and beyond.

It reiterated Bahrain’s adherence to the principles of good neighbourly relations, respect for other countries’ internal affairs, and promoting dialogue and mutual understanding.

The ministry stated that these efforts are guided by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and closely overseen by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

It underlined that rebuilding relations with Iran depends on following fundamental international principles, which are essential to ensuring stability and prosperity in the region.
