President of the Board of Directors

Claudia Strametz was appointed President of the Board of NewRe in September 2024.

As Chief Executive Manager at Munich Re, she is responsible for Non-Life business in Germany, Cyber Underwriting for Europe & Latin America, the German Pharma Pool, NewRe and Munich Re of Malta.

She originally joined Munich Re in 2003 as Graduate Trainee in Property Treaty Underwriting for global clients. During her long career at Munich Re, she has held various senior management positions with a Property underwriting focus. Claudia has been in charge of such diverse markets as Japan, India, Australia, MENA and Germany. Most recently, she was Chief Executive for Munich Re’s Non-life business in France, Belgium, Italy, Austria, Switzerland and the CEE/SEE region.

Claudia Strametz holds a degree in Mathematics, Physics and Philosophy from the University of Regensburg, Germany, and a doctorate in Mathematics from the University of Montpellier, France.
