In November 2024, existing-home sales rose to a seasonally adjusted rate of 4.15 million, the swiftest pace since March (4.22 million). Sales accelerated 6.1% from one year ago, the largest year-over-year gain since June 2021 (+23%).

According to NAR Chief Economist Lawrence Yun, "Home sales momentum is building. More buyers have entered the market as the economy continues to add jobs, housing inventory grows compared to a year ago, and consumers get used to a new normal of mortgage rates between 6% and 7%."

The Existing-Home Sales data measures sales and prices of existing single-family homes for the nation overall, and gives breakdowns for the West, Midwest, South, and Northeast regions of the country. These figures include condos and co-ops, in addition to single-family homes.

Existing-Home Sales for December 2024 will be released on Friday, January 24, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. Eastern.
