Max Beermann is an Associate at Mullen Coughlin and focuses his practice on counseling organizations of all sizes and across all industry sectors in all facets of data privacy and security incident response. As a victim organization’s Breach Coach after a real or suspected data privacy and security incident, Max directs the response and investigation into the incident with various incident response stakeholders; liaises with local, state and/or federal law enforcement; counsels on any legal, regulatory or contractual obligations stemming from the incident; coordinates legally-required notification efforts; assists in the procurement of post-incident services such as public relations and credit/identity monitoring; and responds to any regulatory investigation from state, federal or industry-specific regulatory agencies.

Max is also an experienced commercial litigator, having represented hundreds of organizations in general, professional, premises and products liability defense; labor and employment matters; and sports and entertainment-related issues. As a commercial litigator, he gained valuable experience working closely with insurance carriers in navigating policies and conducting investigation on behalf of his insurance carrier partners and clients.

Prior to his private practice, Max was a Law Clerk for the Hon. Randall C. Chicca in the New Jersey Superior Court – Chancery/General Equity Division. There, he drafted legal opinions on disputes related to intellectual property, business breakdown and real estate.

While a J.D. candidate at Roger Williams University School of Law, Max was the Notes & Comments Editor for the Roger Williams University Law Review and a Judicial Intern for Judge John J. McConnell, Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the District of Rhode Island.
